Yeah actually it kind of is, especially in the free-roaming parts. If the entire game were like stage 1 (before you get to the free-roaming part), my opinion of the gameplay would be much higher. And the weird health bar thing drags it down as well. It tries to be complex in an area where there is no need to be. The game just isn't that fun, but it's fun to look at. I'd rather watch someone play than play myself, and I'm pretty good at videogames. It's just typical overthinking of the design back in the day by a western developer.

Odd when I read that people think the free roaming control is poorly implemented, considering it is the exact same control as in AH3 Thunderstrike and people don't gripe about that game.

And the fact that you think the Energy and Shield is complex just makes my eyes roll. I wouldn't care about your confused view of the game except for the fact that you're likely to spread misguided opinions of it through your youtube audience.

Saying it is a poor game because you can't grasp the mechanics has as much validity as saying Landstalker is a poor game because it is isometric.

I think you just don't appreciate the fact that I don't like the game as much as you do and therefore you're butthurt (trying to attack my character, even). I've got news for you and I'll spell it out as clearly as I can: DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS OF GAMES. NO ONE OPINION IS A FACT. Obviously you are unaware of this, but it is best you learn this quickly or you're gonna be butthurt every time you go on the internet.

Irrelevant. We're talking about moving items around on screen. Nothing more
You also have to take in to account what the game is having to process in the background and what parameters its having to deal with , even with today's console Hardware Codemasters can just about get F1 to run at 30 fps.

Mega Turrican did just as well with software as Chuck Rock II did with hardware.
Chuck Rock 2 also did rotation in software on the MD , but just not as good or as extensive has using a built in Hardware effect and that's always the trouble - There's a balance which is why its also better to have the Hardware support not only does it look better , but less strain on the host hardware and the developer.

There is a way you could determine if Final Fight CD uses the ASCII-pad chip.
What happened to 15 fps ?
    Panzer Dragoon Zwei is
one of the best 3D shooting games available
    Presented for your pleasure

Dude. Your mom is butt hurt.

Where did I "attack your character"?

Look at you using all caps.

Now I do have to question your character.
The control is too shoddy. The game is actually very, very poor.
You make blunt unqualified statements like that, then you go shouting about opinions.

    That's correct. That's my opinion.

And in case you missed it, you called me misguided and confused. And now, unqualified. I'm quite qualified to have an opinion on a videogame which I've owned for nearly 20 years. Apparently you still do not get it. You're not worthy of my attention. Putting you on ignore.

I thought the controls were annoying too but seriously, that only applies if the game doesn't compensate for it, which SoulStar does. There's health powerups everywhere, doesn't really matter if you get hit much.
I've seen those lame mini playthroughs on youtube and everytime the problem weren't the controls, just the player not knowing what to do. I saw people going after the enemies in the freeroam stages (you know, the always respawning ones), and they expected not to die? When you're in the enemies base you're supposed to wreck the base and get out as fast as possible, not waste time killing the ever respawning troops which are always coming to prevent you from wrecking the base.

It's like someone playing Ranger-X and saying it's crap because you always run out of power in the second stage (as in, the player has no idea about the light mechanic), of course the game will seem worse than it is.
    This thread needs more... ENGINEERS

Well, you've made it quite clear who is "butt hurt" here.
Get a grip. You fail to even recognize what was written.

All my comments about your posts regarding Soul Star are clear. Since you are so full of yourself as to misconstrue what was written, I will detail it for you:

Your statement about the Energy and Shield meters illustrate that you are confused.
Your statement that Soul Star is "actually a very very poor game" and that its controls are "shoddy" illustrate that your conclusion on the game is misguided.
The fact that you made and repeated these statements without any supporting criteria deems them unqualified. I did not call you unqualified, I called your statements unqualified.

If someone wants to relay this reality to the guy with his hands over his eyes that would be great.

PS, The word "actually" connotates the expression of a fact. When you say: "The game is actually very, very poor.", you are not communicating an opinion. When you respond by saying "Yeah actually it kind of is", and then also make a declaration about "It's just typical overthinking of the design back in the day by a western developer", you further establish that these are not opinions but are rather critical declarations.

When someone rejects your declarations and states that they are misguided based on a confused grasp of the material at hand, that is not an attack on your character.

And owning a game for 20 years but not comprehending how to read the screen display doesn't exactly establish basis to express any legitimate views on a game.

And one more thing, we all know "butthurt" is a great homophobic or rape victim slur. It is also a poorly considered reminder of the friends and relatives who have suffered the agonizing and extended death of colorectal cancer.

But it is easier to use all caps and ignore challenging replies. I understand.
