That's not the point. The point is that the Ave6 regularly gets rated as complete crap, while the Genesis and Saturn pads are regularly rated among the best ever. So rather than using a crappy pad on the PCE, some of use would like to use one of the best ever, even if it means converting it from another console.

Oh well more avenue 6 pads for me, I think they're excellent controllers.

I've got one as well, but it doesn't hold a candle to a Genesis/Saturn pad.

Count me as another who hates the avenue 6. to be honest, I don't really care for the stock nec controllers either. those d-pads just aren't very comfortable for my freakishly large and manly thumbs. I can't believe I sold my hori fighting commander pce. that controller was awesome. knightwarrior, if you ever find one of those for a decent price, jump on it asap.

Why not do similar to what Drakon did in the other thread and use the PC Engine control pad as a pass through that you plug the Genesis pad into?

Probably because it's a lot of work. It's perfectly doable but you'd lose the ability to use the genesis pad on a genesis. Also you'd have to see if you can cut the traces and re-route them on the back of the pcb otherwise getting it to fit in the case would be a pain. I was lucky that the avenue pad 6 has convenient surface mount resistors soldered onto the back for each button. I have small thumbs so even though I love the look of the genesis controller the d-pad really hurts me after a bit.

Do you need the chip from a standerd 2 button NEC Pad or you have to use one from the Avenue Pad 6??
