The US cover is fine, she's shooting lighting after all, just like she does in the game.

And anyway, it's not like she really looks like the Japanese cover art either, ingame... though she has like three different looks ingame (sprite, and two different looking portraits), so even the game isn't really consistent. But yeah, I think the US box is okay. They get her gender right, she's shooting lighting, she has a dragon...

They certainly didn't get the gender right on the Valis III Turbo CD box cover.

Magical Hoppers sounds like something that the creepy dude behind the 7-11 tries to sell to high school kids.

    And now for a classic:

I get it was the 80s and game art wasn't what it is today, but COME ON, who actually approved this?

Hey, it looks like Mega Man is in a club and doing the disco dance! I guess he is a fan of the Village People!
The fictional character Gordon Gekko once stated,"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good". Gekko is sometimes unfairly judged. There is a big difference between maintaining one's moral compass in business and that which operates in one's personal life. In business, the reality is that if you are not willing to crush your competitor, you might as well get out of the game while you're still ahead.

It does but Mega Man still looks odd, though I suppose that's only because we're used to as he looks today. I imagine if we got something like the JP art, people would insist it be called "Mega Boy". But I really do love that Dr Wiley in the background of the EU art, sulking.

I really love the EU Mega Man box art, especially the intensely contemplative Wily that Joe mentioned.

Let's not forget that the Europeans also got Suppository Man.

I prefer the JP version a lot more than the US version, so much so that I went to The Cover Project and used this cover, which is a combination of the US one with JP artwork for my copy.

I think it probably comes down to personal preferences in some sense. The original cover would be cool for a 90s fantasy paperback, but for a Japanese developed game that actually has sprites in game that look like the original cover art and nothing like the redone version it's a bit weird to me.

I know the odds of selling something in the store back then with an anime style on it were super low, but this is just my preference. The same thing happened with a lot of Renovation titles as well like El Viento which has drastically different cover art.

I don't know, the ingame Alisia sprites don't really look like the Japanese artwork either, though it's pretty hard to tell since she's kinda small. The only notable thing is her hair is in a ponytail like on the JP art. Although her green dragon sidekick looks a lot more accurate on the US cover than the JP one, albeit he's bigger.

You are right about El Viento though, that US cover is just awful. It's definitely one of the worst Genesis covers out there.

The problem with your "jokes" is that you make them at the expense of others. If you don't see how this is a bad thing to do on a forum, well then I don't know what to tell ya. Asking if someone was "fiddled with" because they don't like a game/genre/whatever the hell it was doesn't exactly come across as joking around. If you truly are joking around, then make a goddamn effort to communicate that aspect. Use smilies or some shit. Word it differently. It's not our fault for "not getting you", it's your fault for not communicating your intent properly. The responsibility lies 100% with the communicator to get his point and intent across to others. If this is something that you don't feel you're able to handle, perhaps our forum isn't the best place for you. I personally haven't had an issue with you for a while but judging by many of your past posts which are antagonizing at best, I can see how you'd get on many other member's nerves. There have been quite a few of your posts that have been reported by others.

Usually at this point the member being criticized for his aggressive posts usually responds with a "Fuck you and your forum I don't give a shit I ain't changin' nothin' cuz u r all a bunch of idiots who don't know how to run a website. Even Hitler treated the jews better". Or something similar, anyway.

Oh come on, how many discussions are there where somebody doesn't call someone he disagrees with a fucking retard just for disagreeing with him? 5%? Those statements are outright aggressive/obnoxious/insulting/etc; if makingagenesis's jokes are banworthy then you ought to throw out everybody who posts a LOL or LMAO.

Well that is how they actually look in the JP games, a sort of psychedelic flyboy and a bunnygirl. Pandemonium 2's named Miracle Jumpers but I don't know how its sprites are done.

@ Alisia Dragoon: the US cover is mostly more fitting, but then again her dragons are not that large, it's misleading when they're actually more like geckos and skinks.

Do they actually look different in-game? That's kinda cool, if they do, I never cared for the North American characters, maybe I'll import this one.
