I also quite liked Prometheus. It had a weird, interesting story, some truly great performances from some great actors, excellent atmosphere, and a lot of fun & creepy body horror. I like the lore it created for the ďEngineers,Ē even though it was quite different from what most of us had imagined. I think it only fell apart at the very end, with that convoluted and almost obligatory xenomorph reveal, which I personally feel was only shoehorned in there because they were afraid of the outage if they didnít.

I think it would have been better received if they didnít market it so heavily as an ĎAliení movie.

My problem with Prometheus is it was too full of itself; left more questions than answers. That's why I prefer Covenant to it, it was just "simpler". Yes I can feel some of you eyerolling at that comment, but I'm being honest. Prometheus was a good film, but it was also a little pretentious, imo.

I think for the next Alien film, enough with the "origin" crap. They never needed one. It was never a question that ever needed answering.

It was so fucking blatant the movie should have started with a screen that said "FUCK YOU WHITEY, CHINA'S WHERE THE MONEY AT THESE DAYS!"

Even that was done poorly. The film came across as Chinese with a bit of American (or western) flair. Straham is type cast to the extreme already and he must have done the film for an easy few mil. Raine Wilson? Most everything after The Office was forgettable including his role in this film.

Just finished watching Shazam and now just started watching Captain Marvel...will update this post when I've seen it to give my impression/s later.

EDIT: Okay, Shazam was great fun and def the best DC movie they released since the first Superman reboot one. Captain Marvel was average, totally bland and forgetful. Not bad, just dull.

    Yesterday.

After watching it, I can safely say it is now in my top five of worst mainstream movies I've ever seen.

    Spider-Man Far From Home

The reveal was a letdown. Decent film but these films really lack the characterization of the Raimi films. I also miss that theme. It was a nice surprise someone from those films returned in the same role. It kinda bothers me that the friendly neighborhood Spiderman has nanotech suits up the wazoo.

I watched Sam Peckinpah's The Getaway. I've been trying to get rid of my VHS collection (yeah I should've done it 20 years ago but oh well) and some of these films I haven't seen in so long I don't know whether I should replace them or just throw away.

It was a pretty good movie, entertaining with some twists and turns, still not sure what to do with it though to be honest

If it's a space issue, then I guess there's not much you can do about that. If not, I would keep them if I were you. The fact that you haven't gotten rid of them after all this time may not just be down to procrastination.

BTW, can't go much wrong with Peckinpah.

i saw "once upon a time in hollywood". it wasn't bad, QT clearly loves the setting and the atmosphere but it felt a little meandering until the last half. other then that, it was a fun way to spend near 3 hours.
