Wow. I'm guessing it's eBay idiocy? Any reason for the double jewel case, perhaps some bonus disc not included in the US release?Originally Posted by Symos

All PAL Mega CD games have double jewel case. I don't know why.
Buy stuff at the Magical Game Factory, WaterMelon's crowd funding video game development site!
Do YOU have any games you want to get rid of that haven't been reviewed on the site and needs to be beaten for the sake of this project? Send 'em to me and I'll review and beat them! I'll pay for shipping of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
the books are really big they come in like 4 or 5 diffrent languages thats why some PAL games come in a double jewel caseOriginally Posted by Zebbe
The manual fits fine in a standard CD case, I've tried. The pack-in games for the Mega-CD model 1 (Sol-Feace and that helicopter shootemup?) were both packed in one double case - so I'd imagine mass-producing the same kind of case would be cheaper than producing a x number of double cases for the multidisc games and y number of single CD discs.Originally Posted by redrum666

Double jewel case was standard for all systems not using the DVD-style case. I think this was enforced to separate video games from regular CDs to avoid confusion. It was pretty dumb, and lasted up until the Dreamcast.

That is not entirely true. Most PAL-PlayStation games came in a special thicker single jewel case, but not a double jewel case. Strangely the double (and triple and quadro)cases were used for some 1 disc games such as Tomb Raider.Double jewel case was standard for all systems not using the DVD-style case. Yeah, I remember Syphon Filter 3 came with a double-sized case just because the manual was really thick for some reason, and they decided to throw in a full-color pamphlet describing every weapon in the game. Now imagine my surprise when it had the same size case as Syphon Filter 2 (a two-disc game) and only had one disc. I was an easily confused young man at times.
i have 13 PAL mega cd games and not one manual would fit securely in a regular jewel case. they should have just used dvd style boxes with a tall manual. if anything though the PAL cases are very tough and give space for my backup copy of my most played games.
I do have an original PAL copy of this game. I spent 23€ for it some years ago, far after the Mega CD timeline ended, so I think this one was already very sought after.
Despite its ridicuolus prizing, I have always had the intention of keeping it in my collection for some reason. Perhaps due to being a fan of the character.
