Matt has done a fantastic job keeping his customers informed of how the game's going. Total pro. Fonzie and WM shouldn't even be uttered in the same breath as him.

Here is the thing. No one got it right in the first place, not Capcom, not SNK, not IGS. And they had far superior hardware platforms to work with. Chances are extremely slim to create a killer beat em up with your very first try in the genre.

We also had a good PR Matt: Matthew Bennion and he did a great job keeping the website and blog alive back in 2009 ~ 2010. Things that happen when you have open minded leaders.

While i totally applaud the effort behind tanglewood, and the dev communication with backers, the gameplay from the demos i tried didnt convince me at all. A beatemup sounded so good,The spriteart for paprium looked incredibly good, but now i dont even care anymore with all the bs from fonzie.

Xenocrisi looks awesome, will buy the rom for sure. The cart and case cost too much (over 100$!!)

Welcome to economies of scale (・~・)

We need to get more homebrew out to make cartridges cheaper :P (yes, I'm the one who constantly criticizes people who push everybody to release cartridges, but there's no reason why we can't have both)

Pier Solar original release was 35$. I know for WM case there are definitely markup for the WM "brand". I don't know why cartridges cost so much from anybody else.

I remember. Were you able to turn a profit at $35, though?

Even $100 a cart is not so bad in 2018. Adjusted for inflation, that's like a game that cost $50 when the Mega Drive launched.

Wasn't Pier Solar barely sold at break even prices? And later it was the BITS packages that would be sold at those prices, so to turn a profit with a cartridge with proper box you clearly need to price them higher.

Also wait, where are you getting the $100 number? The preorder site has it at 55 for the Mega Drive cartridge in box version (i.e. what would be the "standard" form) and a quick check puts that at $72.45.

(EDIT: had used the wrong currency whoops - still not $100)

Exactly, and I believe at the time I kickstart it for a boxed version it was actually right at $70 USD. Heck new Intellivision homebrews cost that plus shipping on top of it!
