    Impressive!
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I'm not happy with the dithering on the metal bar, It needed some error-diffusion dithering but that's very tough to do by hand and I'm not an artist. Either that or another shade, there's probably a dark brown I could use but I can't trust a jpg compressed pic for shades .

Kamahl's edit looks great. I agree about the vertical dithering looking poor across RGB, and I would imagine most people getting this game are enthusiasts with S-video or better.

I'd like the see the percent of purchasers that have S-video or better.

It is still a pain in the butt for me to hook up my Genesis with RGB to Component, I have a feeling I will be doing most of my play time with 32X Composite. Even over Component though, Final Fight CD's dithering blends pretty well from 7 feet away.

The original artist used colours that mix very well when dithered. Why he opted to do vertical dithering I don't know.

I didn't do anything special, just switched the dithering style.

I'll happily play it over Composite.
Also, this discussion sounds a bit elitist to me; the art style of that character's sprite looks very good IMO.

I would be totally stoked, vertical dithering or no, to play this game on my traditional annual gaming marathon day. Sadly, that does not seem to be what will happen.

I know and it looks much more pleasing. We've gotta get this to the sprite artists. There's still time!

I love composite (and it's softer look) so bring on the dithering Watermelon.

Beat Em Up- Streets of Rage 2
    Platformer- Sonic 3 and Knuckles

    QFT.

I'll be playing this on a first model japanese MD I connected to a big, old CRT by a custom made RGB-scart / stereo cable. Just the perfect setup

That's a bad setup for vertical dithering... that's exactly what we're complaining about. How is it elitist?
