Some people may have different preferences than myself, so those may not necessarily like the circuit the way I have it now. I like bright video with very vivid colors, so I go for the brightest picture possible with the best color balance for the brightness level I decide to go for, but like I said, this may not necessarily be what other people like, so I'd like to give them options by having POTs on the RGB inputs and Component outputs.

I think adjustment is important. Some TVs or selectors might not like too strong of signal.

You both raise good points. I'll work on reworking the whole thing tomorrow.

Is it still possible to power this from the consoles AV port? If so I'd be happier with a custom box that doesnt require an external power supply. I have enough things that needed to be plugged in as it is.

Here let me google that for you...

Hmm the datasheet says 4.5 to 5.5 V, all systems output 5v so that would be a yes.

I assumed it probably could, I just wanted Ace's confirmation on this new circuit. No need to be an ass about it Drakon.

Should be entirely possible, though I always keep forgetting to measure the current draw of the BA7230LS. Once I get that, we'll be able to know which consoles can supply enough current to power the box without the need for an external 5V power supply.

I just want to motivate you to look things up yourself too. No need to be all offended.

I've never seen a console that doesn't have enough spare amps to power an extra video encoder. Unless you're using a third party power brick that's already not feeding enough amps. I would imagine that most video encoders take roughly the same amount of amps. Maybe there are consoles without enough power, I've just never encountered one. Powering the encoder from the system is a wonderful idea, it really does makes things simpler.

I power my Component converter on my Genesis via the 5v on the AV out.. Well, when I used the Component converter. I used the JROK one, it looked pretty good in my opinion.

    Old pictures:

Sharpness was turned all the way down for those pictures. Keep in mine the TV does use Scan Velocity Modulation though.

I'm fine with looking shit up on my own. I don't need you to motivate me. I was simply asking Ace a question here since he's the one who put this together.

This is all I have to say to you:

Ace, did you try this circuit with a Genesis?

My high horse? Did I ever say I'm better than anybody? No, I'm just saying you could be less lazy and do something yourself for once.

Don't know what scan velocity modulation is, but those pictures look amazing.

I did give it a go on a VA2 Genesis Model 1 and it looked better than anything I got with the BA6592F. Just as bright, but with bolder, more vibrant colors.

You don't say it, but you act like it. Your arrogance has become quite irritating. There is nothing lazy about asking the creator of a mod a question about said mod.
