Exclamation Sega repair manuals on eBay

    Sorry Villahed94, stole your idea.....

On eBay at the moment there is a chap selling a swag selling Sega repair manuals.

    Here

    http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...504#post548504

Now I have seen this pop up on SMSpower as well, so I have added the same reply.

This fellow is in the same country as me (Australia) and I have access to A3 scanners (and A1 but we don't want to be silly about it).

To start the ball rolling I have started to bid on the SMS2 (sorry but this is closest to my heart as it was my first console) and the 2 Game Gear manuals.

If you see this topic pop up elsewhere, please tell people to calm down (if they are excited...whatever). I am happy to do the scanning and send to someone to upload as I don't know how to do that sort of thing.

Obviously and it goes without saying I can't afford to do this by myself.

    Edit

I approve of this, PM Melf so he stickies it. We only have to search a way to fundraise in a transparent way. Also, you would have a very big advantage because you already live in Australia.
So yeah, I'm gladly supporting this thread and waiting for Melf's stikying and a way to fundraise this project.

I'd say the Saturn one would be important to get as well. It may have some info in it concerning the Cartridge port allowing people to either fix it or make it easier to find or make replacements.

EDIT: Though it may be better to post about that one on SegaSaturn.co.uk. Maybe we could turn it into a group effort to try getting all of them and having them scanned.

Things like Kickstarter seem to be all the rage nowadays. I know that's not what Kickstarter is for but maybe there is a similar service that could be set up to collect for this.

Something like Chipin, perhaps might work?

Yep, that's a great idea. Now, who will host the fundraise? I would gladly host it on my paypal, but let's decide as a team.

I'd love to donate to this, because someday our Sega's are gonna go poof! and having a repair manual would be very handy to have then.

Exactly, so now the question is: Who will host the fundraise?

Obviously one of the more well known people such as yourself will have to set it up. I think first we need to know who all would be willing to do so.

I don't have an issue with you setting it up if you're able too. The sooner something gets set up the better.

Shouldn't Omp set up the designated Paypal account? He's the one in Australia, with a scanner and is already getting some of the manuals himself.

How are we now JUST finding out about these repair manuals? Are you telling me no one knew about them?

The thread is alive over at smspower, i have done the same in listing what i am bidding on so far.

I am really hoping we can do a combined forum thing where we can upload the manuals so everyone benefits be it you are into 8bit, 16bit etc.

I am not a member on any saturn forums though.

I will keep a daily tab on how things are going, we don't need to be bidding against each other.

What other forums can we share this with, i am thinking of assembler.... any others?

I made a topic about it over at SegaSaturn.co.uk:

    http://segasaturngroup.proboards.com...ay&thread=6502

You are free to join that forum, and honestly it's probably one of the best Sega Saturn sites and forum on the internet.

if these were purchased and scanned they would be a huge help to the sega community in general. I'd be interested in seeing scans of all of the manuals if enough money can be gathered up to buy these.

So yeah, should I set up the raisefund with your account, omp? You could post the same widget on both forums and thus raise even more money!
