Why is the NES Pad Hack to Master System is easy, But doing a NES Pad Hack to the Genesis is a Pain, Why do you need a Genesis Multiplexer?

I eventually pulled the trigger and ordered one. VERY happy with it. It has different button assignment layouts you can choose from on boot-up, which makes certain jump-&-attack games much more 'thumb friendly'. The SNES asciipad works great, with all turbo functions working no problem.
