    MS Converter Region?

    Hi!

I have a problem with my MS Converter, The display is not in fullscreen.
Instead I get the same kind of boarders that shows up when you play
    PAL games.

The converter is made for a Mega Drive but I use it on a genesis so the
boarders don't show up when I don't use the converter.

If the converter is working is 50hz as I suspect, is there a way to change
it to 60hz? Or is this just how a MS game looks when you play it?

I'll provide a picture of boarders I'm talking about.

    Thankfull for any help

I think this is just how Master System games look. As far as I know, the converter only provides the Mega Drive with a cart connector to fit in the Master System games into it, no signal or anything else.

Everything is fine, and you don't have a problem. If you mod your MD for 60hz, you will have no borders. But, since you have a genesis, it'd be kind of silly, no? A PAL Power Base Converter is the same as a US one.

BTW, Sonic 2 for the Master System can be glitchy on US (or at 60HZ PAL) SMS consoles.

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

A PBC will work on any system...it is not region locked.

I have a US system, with a "US" PBC with a US copy of "Afterburner" and I still get a bit of border on the game (but it happens to be the same color as the sky).

I was able to switch the region on my Genesis to JP with my PBC in it and I did get either "Afterburner" or "Outrun" (when I had it) to flash a "Mark III" screen.

My Mega Drive is modded to 60 Hz. In 50 Hz mode with PBC, there are GIANT borders. In 60 Hz mode, there are regular borders.

    Here's da facts:

Sega Master System games have borders even when played on a real master System. The biggest borders you'll see will be at the top and bottom of the screen. This is because the SMS only has 192 lines of resolution in that dimension. Overscan doesn't kick in until around 224 lines or so. So you'll just have solid colors or black filling the empty space at top and bottom. Also the SMS tends to have a border on the LEFT side of the screen for games that have scrolling. This is to mask off the redrawing the screen does when it scrolls. Completely normal.

Gen esis Gamer, there is someone selling a Master System converter here on Sega-16 in Sonic's Bazaar (the forum below this one).
