    Default gonna release a product

I'm gonna be making a product soon, and it will only be released to a SMALL audience to test out, and if it looks good, it will be produced in large quantities.. Tell me what you guys think for the trailer of the unit...

    http://blackevilweredragon.spymac.com/thecubesmall.gif

It will be manufactured under my company name (as seen in the ad).. (don't bother looking for the website, it hasn't been updated in YEARS, and I mean years)

If you could buy this CD player, would you? The sound quality will depend on the amplifier you connect it too, but it does have 8x oversampling.. And I believe the RAM chips I'll be getting, will allow 12 second anti-skip (being it's NOT a portable, it doesn't need to be so huge)...

Whats the purpose of this? and is it intended to be looking as much of a gamecube copy as it does atm? I think the text in the trailer looked quite out of place. some parts of the graphics in the trailer was okay, while some weren't

its not a gamecube copy.. does the gamecube change colors? no, not really... (and anyway, the GC was a copy of the Apple Cube)

why make this when there are pro stuff that is much better and at a lower price? You can't compete, when you make a 50 and think thats much. They make 75,000 and can cut down the prices much more than you ever could
but if thats your dream, I shouldnt stop you

some people care less of the pro stuff and prefer simple devices, that's what this thing is, while also keeping the appearance of a pro-gear...

later models are going to have Red, green, and blue LEDs in them, and with that, you can change colors to what you want, OR let the machine just cycle through them automatically... (fading between colors)

The lighting up idea is pretty awesome and if I were buying a CD player I would like the gimmickiness of it. That being said I haven't bought a CD since Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls.

Asking people on the internet what they think is always going to bring out the haters. It would be difficult to find constructive criticism.

However, if you have a new product, and have the means to produce it and sell it, then always, ALWAYS follow through with it. Even if you fail you will learn a lot. You can't succeed if you don't try.

    So go for it.

That being said, I wouldn't buy it because I don't use CDs anymore. I'm all mp3/ogg/flac.

It could be cool if it supported most formats and could update the codecs through some usb cable in connection with the pc?

there's always a workaround?, why not make it open for that via opensource software, you don't have to release it with the product?

    Who really uses CD's today?

It's not a BAD idea, but why not give it a few years when new CD players are far less common then they are now? And then the whole retro craze will take over.

I think you have a big chance to sell many of these. People like new designs for old formats.

Buy stuff at the Magical Game Factory, WaterMelon's crowd funding video game development site!

Do YOU have any games you want to get rid of that haven't been reviewed on the site and needs to be beaten for the sake of this project? Send 'em to me and I'll review and beat them! I'll pay for shipping of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

The biggest factor in any of this will be cost. If it's cheap enough to convince somebody like me to part with his money (doubtful) then people who aren't so Scrooge-esque will probably purchase one in a heartbeat.
