Fahrenheit felt the heat of the fire:

Beaten on Hard, since if you complete Easy or Normal you're told this:

The game uses a weird system where you can only save once you've gotten a GAME OVER. We considered deliberately committing suicide in Level 3 so we could save after having miraculously navigated the maddeningly random gauntlet of Level 2, but decided to press on. Consequently, the last few minutes of this were stressful as hell, since the Sega CD kept hiccuping every few minutes or so, and the game had crashed on us once before. But, thankfully, it made it to the end.

I can't imagine dealing with the labyrinthine complexity of this game alone. If anything my fiancée deserves the lion's share of the credit, since she was the navigator/mapmaker and I basically just went where she told me to go. She put together a nice custom map of Level 2, but we printed out Level 3 from a Ratigators.com manual scan -- thanks to TSOLfan for those.

I enjoyed playing the game. The visuals were great BUT the music is very addicting and it is EXCELLENT! It sucks that you cannot fight The Overlord again if you die, but he really wasn't hard after I figured out his attack pattern. A must play for anyone who owns a Sega CD

    ^Nice!

On my end, I started working on Heart of the Alien. I finished the Out of This World half today, which was easy enough since I've played it on other platforms, but I've never played the Sega CD-exclusive sequel before. So far I'm not too impressed with it, but we'll see.

I've seen youtube vids on Heart of the Alien. It looks strange. Best of luck to ya on that one. I played a few minutes of The Terminator tonight and got my butt whooped on level 3. I've never played it before so that's probably why. I'll try again tomorrow. It does have a nice soundtrack, though I'm not to keen on the limited shooting directions.

Very cool, guys. I'm trying to fit in Snatcher whenever I can - I should have it done this week. I also started playing Eternal Champions: CftDS again; man I forgot how hard that game can be. Still it's been a blast to play through my old Sega CD games again. It really reminded me why I loved the system so much growing up.

Is Snatcher a long game? I've never played it before but I was gonna start it once I finished Terminator.

Nah, you can beat it within a few days at most. Maybe 10 hours long if that.

Set the controls for the Heart of the Alien:

Ending screen for the first half (Out of This World).

Ending screen for the second half.

Nice! OOTW is a great game - I spent countless hours playing that on the PC BITD. It was a bit harder to get into HotA, though. Good to see it completed!

Also, for some reason, this makes me want to play Sewer Shark...

Thanks! I love OOTW, but I didn't like the Sega CD port much; the controls felt laggy in a different way from (for example) the SNES port, and it felt like a few of the hazards were somehow more cheapshot-heavy, especially the falling boulders in the cavern. Parts of the Redbook were OK, but the revised sound effects weren't to my taste at all.

And...I kinda hated Heart of the Alien. I'll probably post something in the review thread for the game, but basically it felt cheap and like a betrayal of Chahi's vision.

EDIT: Go for it with Sewer Shark!

6-10 hours depending on how deep you go into it. my girlfriends first playthrough was 10 hours. I think mine was shorter. but I've played it many times since

    ^Heh, that's a funny ending.

BTW a new user, douglie007, is starting work on Dark Wizard. For some reason he hasn't been able to post yet, but I've been in contact with the mods and hopefully he'll be able to join us shortly.

Also, my fiancée and I have started on Jurassic Park, though that might be a while.

I'm in the semifinals in NHL94 and now that I've got the hang of things there is no stopping the Blackhawks.
