    Default Maximum Carnage!

I've played both the SNES and Genesis versions of the game (but I only own the SNES one), and this game is so badass! But how come the copyright of the Genesis game says "LJN"? LJN didn't make any Genesis titles! It says "Acclaim" on the box, so it should say "Acclaim"! Anyway, this was one of my FAVORITE games growing up, and one of my favorite things about the game was the soundtrack by comical rockers, Green Jelly (They're a good band!), and I had seen characters I was familiar with (Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Captain America, Jameson), and MANY characters I had NEVER heard of 'til then (Doppelganger, Shriek, Carrion, Morbius, Demogoblin, several others). But I still thought the game kicked so much ass. I still like it to this day. Imagine if they had done a special edition of the game for Sega CD!

LJN was a subsidary of Acclaim that arose during the NES years. Since Nintendo only allowed a 3rd party licensee to produce 5 titles per year, a company had to get an entirely separate license under a subsidary in order to produce 5 more games. Hence the Konami/Ultra and Acclaim/LJN connections. They just carried over to the Genesis until Nintendo was forced out of its monopolistic practices via lawsuit.

I knew all that already, but I just didn't understand, because LJN didn't handle the Sega department. Just the Nintendo one.

This game is one of the worst pieces of shit on the MD anyway.

You don't care about other people's opinions, do you?

Why? Other people say their opinions and I say mine. Itīs that easy.
Maximum Carnage: Bad graphics with lack of colours and about no shading. The game looks terribly flat.
Thereīs too few different enemies, and those who are there look stupid.
The gameplay is mediocre at best.
The game matches the comicīs max carnage-storyline pretty good: total waste of time.

You could always say that it sucks in your opinion, other than stating it as if it's a fact.

Well of course it's his opinion. Maybe you just take it as fact because deep down you know he's right..

    Edit:
This game would've been alright if it had a 2-player option. That probably wouldn't make sense storywise but who cares? Beat em ups are for 2 players or more.

Meh. 108 Stars is just opiniated and likes sharing his views with other people. It's true, that it can get a tad annoying to wade through post after post of his opinion/fact set-up, but you can get used to it.

Maximum Carnage itself... meh. I have no feeling for the game. It's not good and it's not bad. It's not even mediocre.

Acclaim probably just passed it off on LJN to broaden the brand recognition... I don't know. It's not like anyone would really say "wow! this is made by LJN!" or anything.

I still think of NES X-Men when I see LJN.

What I never understood is why LJN still existed when Sprit of Speed was made for the Sega Dreamcast?
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

    Yeah, that was weird.

As a kid I always looked at games published by those Acclaim subsidiaries as CRAP and those published by Acclaim proper to be superior............which was difficult seeing as I owned a Genesis and most if not all of Acclaim's pre-'94 Genesis library was released under those subsidiaries, and there were some gems here and there.

    Lighten up, dude.

Didn't Maximum Carnage come in a red box and cartridge?

Yes, that was the coolest feature of the game.

What's more rare, the black or red cartridge?
