Thank you, Goati!! That brings us to just 35 Genesis games left to beat -- and only one game away from the milestone of 95% completion of the NTSC-U Genesis library.

    Regarding the remaining NTSC games:
Is John Madden Football ’93 CE really a distinct game or just a roster swap of John Madden Football ’93 like NHL/Elitserien or Sensible Soccer/International Sensible Soccer LE?

    MiG-29 is done!
I dreaded tackling this game because of the complicated controls and ugly 3-D-graphics. However after I got a handle on the controls MiG-29 turned out to be quite addictive.
This game is a more realistic flight simulator and I liked it overall better than EA's F-22 Interceptor.

Fantastic! I kept meaning to sit down with this one but every time I tried, the complicated controls put me off. I quite enjoyed LHX Attack Chopper, though, so I hoped that it would be worthwhile once I got past the controls. Glad to hear it is.

And: that brings us past the 95% completion mark on the Genesis list! We're really starting to get close to that goal line, though there's a row of seven linebackers standing in our way who still need to be overcome.

EDIT: BTW, I don't know the deal with Madden '93 CE, but short of disassembling the ROM it's hard to say.

I just saw that Samurai Shodown on SCD is still on the list. I've beaten this half a year ago with every single character. I didn't like it as much as the Genesis version though. Mainly because there are very limited continues and that is something I totally hate in fighting games.

^Nice to see some motion on the Sega CD front! Agreed that limited continues in fighting games are a drag.

I take it you didn't encounter the alleged game-crashing bug at the end -- and given that you beat it with every character and presumably still didn't get that crash, I'm left wondering if the bug is a complete urban legend.

No it didn't crashed. Not even once. Can you tell me more about it?

I've never seen it myself, but a ton of sources claim that the game has a habit of crashing at the final boss. Problem is, no one seems to be able to verify that it actually happened to them! It seems to be a "well-known fact" for which we have no actual evidence.

Funny thing: Last week I played the Neo Geo version as a reproduction on my Dreamcast. I cleared that one with all characters too and one time while I played with Nakoruru while beginning the final bout against Amakusa the screen suddenly turned black. The game itself continued but the screen stayed black and I was forced to switch off the Dreamcast. That sounds exactly like what you are describing but I thought it happened because I played a Neo Geo game emulated on DC where its normal that some issues can occur. It didn't happen again and no I haven't experienced this on the Sega CD playing my original release.

I tried Lethal Enforcers a few times, and this aspect of the game was very frustrating for me. It's annoying that they couldn't at least add a less good ending so you can continue to experience the later stages if you do shoot any civilians.

    Hi there!
Allow me to present myself: I'm Discomusic, and I was a contributor of this thread back in 2015-2016 I think. On my curriculum, there are games like:
    - Dynamite Headdy (please enjoy this video I made about getting all the secret points)
    - Rolo to the rescue
    - Last battle (please enjoy this other video I made about defeating all bosses)
    - Crusader of Centy
    - Where in the World/Time is Carmen Sandiego?
    - Clue
    - Uncharted waters: new Horizons
    - Daffy Duck in Hollywood (please enjoy once again a video I made about getting all goden awards)

    Some sports titles like:
    - NBA Action '95 (all games played!)
    - F1 World Championship Edition
    - World cup USA '94

...and most importantly, the EXTREMELY hard "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and friends". I don't know how many of these games I could beat now if I try.
Anyway, I got bored and left after trying to beat Brian Lara Cricket '96. Now Goldenband told me that this game has been beaten, even though we are still waiting for the officiality. So I thought, why not trying to contribute again to the cause by tracking down some new games? And here I am again!

The game I want to claim right now (is claiming a game still a thing?) is...Asterix and the power of the Gods. The reason is, I had played the game as a kid, and almost finished it without never reaching the goal. So i challenge myself to do it now!

(this may very well be my last post until 2022, so enjoy my presence while it lasts)

    Awesome, Discomusic -- welcome back!

And great that you're taking on a game with which you have some childhood history -- those wins are always so satisfying. No need to claim anything, but it's good to know that you're working on it.

And here I am again, just one month after my last post. This thread is not as crowded as it was before, isn't it? Everyone talking about those new Genesis games and nobody pays the due respects to the classics anymore...

Anyway, just as promised I finished Asterix and the Power of the Gods. It's a platform that can be frustrating at times because it is full of cheap traps, but it is all about memorizing the stages and many trial and error. It can be also generous with extra lives, so with a bit of patience it can be beaten.
The problem with this game is that the items will be repositioned after you complete or even lose a level. This means that if you die close to an extra life, you can collect it again and retry over and over!
Here's a trick: if you take the bottom path on Gaulish forest, you can net two lives effortlessly! Just learn of to do the level without losing any life and go there anytime you need some refill.
Here's a second trick: to earn a "Continue" (three extra lives instead of game over) you need to get coins hidden inside the red chest. You need 40 chests total to win the Continue. On the first half of Gaulish village (before the first fire) there are four. You can go there, grab the tresaures, exit the level and return to repeat the process. Technically you can do this 10 times at the beginning of the game to not having to care about it anymore. Personally I prefer to pay a visit anytime the game directs me to the village, and sometimes between a level and the other, and fill my quota with the remaining chests scattered throughout all the levels.

But the most important thing of them all is that there are 19 hidden items in the game, one for each level, that have no other purpose but to unlock an extended ending with fireworks and stuff. Since I like making videos about Genesis games and their hidden items (see my above post for other examples), I made one for this game too! This doubles as my proof for having actually beaten the game. Enjoy!

For next time, I'll try something sporty, for example I am curious about Dino Dini's Soccer, but we'll see. Meanwhile, please everyone contribute to the thread! This task should have been finished in 2013!

    Closing Off-Topic:
With my posts I have been able to promote all my videos about hidden items in Genesis games...except for the one I am most proud of. Please enjoy "All 60 gems in Beyond Oasis/The story of Thor"!!

Brilliant! Thanks so much for taking care of Asterix, Discomusic. We have another PAL completion waiting to be announced, so we're actually only 9 games away from finishing that list -- it can be done!

    Thanks for beating Asterix!
When I see some progress with this thread it always makes me think about contributing something myself. I hope to tackle Spirou soon. If we all pull together, maybe the PAL list really can be done this year!

I played Dino Dini’s Soccer during last year’s World Cup and beat the game at game level 4 or 5. However my goal was to win the Original 1994 World Cup at game level 6 (i. e. all settings at the equivalent of medium) without save scumming. Unfortunately the real World Cup was finished before I reached that goal and I kinda lost interest in the game afterwards.
