RULES:

• Our plan is to beat every game released for the Genesis, Sega CD, and 32X in the US and Europe (including Australia). We originally started this project in 2013 with just the US Genesis library. In 2014, we added PAL games and the two add-ons, Sega CD and 32X.

• No, we won't be adding Japanese games, nor Master System, Game Gear, Saturn, or Dreamcast games. We've already got plenty to do!
  _
• Victory conditions: the "default" is to beat each game (typically on Normal/Medium or higher difficulty), and to do whatever's needed to get a good ending (it doesn't have to be the best ending, but can't be a bad ending). If the game allows you to change the starting number of lives or continues, you may, though default settings are slightly preferred.
  _
  
  • If a game has no Normal/Medium difficulty, and the default is Easy, I'm willing to consider a playthrough on Easy as long as (a) it's not pathetically easy (i.e. an obvious training mode), (b) the game isn't shortened (an "Easy Incomplete"), and (c) beating it doesn't give you a bad or "try again on Hard" ending. (Ideally, the ending would be exactly the same on both difficulties.)
  
  
• We're using the honor system, but screenshots of the ending screens are strongly preferred. Best of all is to take a photograph, and put a piece of paper with your username in the shot. Here's a guide to using the annoying image attachment system on Sega-16:
  
  "The key to making attached images visible is to choose Go Advanced, then Manage Attachments (down below), click Add Files, Choose File, Upload, and finally Insert Inline (and Done). Then if you want to make them display at full resolution (rather than as thumbnails at the end), you have to preview your post, copy the URL of each image, and replace the {ATTACH} tags with IMG tags holding the URL.
  
  If you choose the "Insert Image" icon instead, it'll appear to work, but you'll always get the error where only you see your attachments, and everyone else just sees dead links that say "Attachment 3234" etc.
  
  Or you can host them on Tinypic, Imgur, or another site like that."

• No cheats, codes, or other trickery, unless the codes are listed in the manual. Emulation is OK but no savestates. Autofire is usually OK unless it's an obvious cheat.

• No old passwords/savegame files from before January 1, 2014 (PAL, Sega CD, and 32X games) or January 1, 2013 (the remaining Genesis NTSC games).

• Your console doesn't have to match the game's region -- you're allowed to play PAL games at 60Hz, and NTSC at 50Hz.

• No claims or "reserving" games -- first come, first serve, and anyone can beat any game at any time. But if you're working on a long game, let us know and we'll try not to step on each other's toes.

Lets get them all done in 2015! Lots of sports games left, I'll try to get a few beat. We're pretty much at the bottom of the barrel as far as popular games at this point.

EDIT: And while the Genesis library is getting down towards some pretty unpopular games (plus sports), there's plenty of fun left in the Sega CD and even 32X library. Still surprised that some of the best-regarded 32X titles haven't been touched.

I've been slowly working my way trough Top Gear 2 and I'm currently on the Greece stage.

It's a damn long and somewhat repetitive game, so it'll probably take me a while to finish it.

After 64 races, 4 music tracks and 5 colors on-screen, I finished Top Gear 2 ( Professional Setting ).


With the same old high-quality camera shots.

The game gave me a "CONGRATULATIONS - something - Now try the Championship level", which is the hardest setting.

I don't know if this one is going to count or not, but I'm 100% sure that I'm not playing this game again. No way.

Also, the developers think that Mexico is located in South America. Isn't that wonderful?

I'd contribute my 1LC of Soulstar (Medium Course), I beat it a couple of weeks ago and posted in A Winner is You - but I'm afraid I don't have photos or anything, so I'll leave it up to you Goldenband whether or not to include it

Good game. After owning Thunderhawk as a kid I always wanted Soulstar, but kind of forgot all about it after the Saturn released. Fast forward to a month or so ago and I pick up the NTSCJ version and finally dig in. I started of with a strong dislike for it due to some stodgy controls (even struggling to clear the second stage at first), but after a week of owning it I began to acclimatise and enjoy myself. I believe the game gives you two credits with 2 lives for per credit, but on my winning run I managed the 1LC, even without any experience on the final stage/boss.

I picked up the laser power up and didn't lose it through the entire run (it can be easy to switch weapons accidentally at some points), which was my intention and makes some of the more annoying Turbocopter level bosses go down that much quicker. There is a glut of health in the silver domes on the desert stage's on-rails section that I can thank for not losing a life, and the final level is probably not as difficult as some others (bar the first walker section with the acid pools and mechs dropping in to kill you, already had a plan for that though).

The final boss has an annoying phase where he literally punches your ship, spinning you around momentarily, and I have no idea how to avoid that particular attack but once he gave me some breathing space I hammered the bastard into oblivion.

You know what though, despite being comfortable enough with the game, I still couldn't tell you exactly how the shield system (your health gauge) works! It's supposed to make the ship control more laggy as it replaces shield blocks to compensate for hits or something, in the end I just stopped getting hit all the time, much easier. I also feel the game apologises for the controls a bit by dishing out the blue health ups.

Despite the various flaws Soulstar has, I still think this has become one of my favourite Mega CD games, and I find it much more interesting and pretty to look at than Thunderhawk/Strike, despite that one actually having better controls.

I don't know what the win condition would be, myself. Barone was in the middle of a playthrough on Hard about a month ago.

Ecco The Dolphin: Tides of Time is done. I played it today in one rush after playing it the last time nearly 8 years ago. I love both games very much. I played through the Epilogue which follows the credits too because it belongs to the game and the story. Ecco games have a real intense atmosphere and the story is a part of it too so this time I do not want to spoil the ending but one thing I can say: Ecco solves the problem in his own way and at the very end you get a nice firework.

BTW: I never figured out what you can do with the secret passwort after finishing the game.
