Let's hope they haven't tried to reinvent the wheel with this one.

The video itself doesn't exactly have me frothing with excitement, though.

Looks kinda neat. I'm curious how hard it will be to order the game.

They seriously need to reduce the size of the ship and add some animation when moving up and down.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I was very worried about some aspects of this game, and the video extinguished a great part of this.
Also, It barely looks a beta version. Magical Gaming Factory should take some advertising tips for their games with this guys.

Looks like it is inspired by Spriggan Mk2.

I hope the gameplay and design get as much attention to detail as the visuals.

I hope we aren't getting the Euroshmup Rise of the Robots.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

Yeah, lets hope they will focus on the gameplay and give the community a new gem.
I also hope they will do a better packaging, compared to the poor Oh Mummy release.

That's what I'd like to know. I remember the devs expanding the scope of the game to include side-scrolling run 'n gun elements, that's bound to slow them up. Game has a bangin' soundtrack judging from the videos, I hope to see (and hear) more about it soon.

IIRC there was an Antarex demo/preview included in another 1985 Alternativo release?

Last I saw, it was being demo'd at multiple large and small gaming conventions. Never one I was present for, unfortunately. It looks good every time I see it, so I imagine it's coming along. Perhaps the most recent changes are just more time consuming than anticipated. Regardless, it's something worth keeping an eye on.

This is the most recent video I can find of it.

the demo is to be included on their Megagames Almanac compilation, which is suffering from pcb production delays apparently. Including run and gun stages could be a big mistake if not handled well and will no doubt delay the game to no avail... oh well always the same problems with the homebrew scene: delays in coding and delays in production. The first ones because the programmers get ambitious and the second one because hey it's not something you produce on a daily basis anymore.
