    Default Worlds first region-free Game Gear TV!

    Hey everyone,
    Just showing off my latest project here, a fully PAL, US, and JP switchable Game Gear with TV output (S-video and composite) and a Genesis controller port!

    The JP mode changes title screen in games like Power Strike 2 but, more importantly, it is necessary to play Pop Breaker - a nifty GG exclusive. The PAL switch makes games like New Zealand Story, Alien Vs. Predator and others that glitch terribly in NTSC, work perfect.

    The Genny controller port does not have start but otherwise does everything else. And the last switch is for full screen SMS mode

    Where do you get that thin gauge wire (red)?

    The bright red stuff is 30AWG kynar wire from Jameco.com The dark red is actually inductor wire, which you have to melt the tips of to solder! Smallest stuff ever and great for insane SMD work. It's 32AWG I believe and came in a inductor wire pack at Radioshack of all places, lol

    Very impressive. The unbelievable mods I see on this board make me with I had electronics classes available to me in high school or that I went to some in college. As things are, I'm just learning on my own trying to make up for the time lost.

    Nice!

    For the "start" button, I used the old SMS pause in the controller mod (since I already have a few modded control pads for the modded SMS's).

    Can I ask how or what's needed to install a 60/50Hz region switch?

    In a VA1 pins 118 (NTSC) and 119 (SECAM) are connected to ground. Connect to +5v (via 10k resistor to be safe) for PAL 50hz output.
    In a VA0 connect pin 25 ("PAL") from the VDP to +5v and pin 19 (NTSC) to +5v of the 315-5378 ASIC (they are connected to ground by default).

    Run these to a switch between ground and +5v to switch between them.

    Very nice mod! I was thinking of doing the same circuit (the original one with 74HC374 and HC74s) plus adding the BH7236AF signal encoder for the composite out, but I gave out as I found I could not easily fit all ICs in there.
    I see you did more than great! Congrats for the nice soldering work.
