I don't know what you're saying. I mean, if you, personally, simply don't think this game is 9/10 material, then that's fine; we all disagree with reviews and you are, of course, free to your own opinion. Personally, if I were reviewing this game, I would've given it an 8.

However, I disagree with the notion that a game needs to be "revolutionary" in order to earn a 9/10 (or even a 10/10). I hold that opinion generally; I'm not making any sort of exception for this game. I especially think that for reviews of classic games, whether the game did anything revolutionary or not is kind of irrelevant. Who cares whether a game was "fresh" 11-18 years ago? I'm living in the present.

How many Mega Drive games caused a "revolution"? I can only think of Sonic the Hedgehog, which had a wave of fast rodents following him in a few years. Then there is maybe EA's sport games, which set a new standard for gameplay. But this is another topic. I would never demand a game to be revolutionary to be a 9 or 10.

Buy stuff at the Magical Game Factory, WaterMelon's crowd funding video game development site!

Do YOU have any games you want to get rid of that haven't been reviewed on the site and needs to be beaten for the sake of this project? Send 'em to me and I'll review and beat them! I'll pay for shipping of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Take away any kind of criteria that one may deem necessary to judge a game as a "9" or "10" game and lets just say that this kind of game is judged as so because of its excellence.

And I will say that normally i will try to strive for the right to someones opinion and how tastes differ etc..

But no, in this case I cannot, Bubba 'n' Stix is simply not a 9 in fact I would say it was a 7 at best because someone could concievably have found something more worthwhile in it than I have.....

Subjectivety is a fantastic plea bargin, hell someone could give Barnies Hide and Seek a 10 and cry, Its my opinion we are all different, but who would we be to argue then??

Once again take a scroll through all the classics and greats that this game shares and betters according to the review catalogue and you won't be long reaching the conclusion that wait a minute "this game is a 6!"
"Age badly is something women do, games are good or bad when they are released. "

"It's like watching Runic stones by vikings here in Täby: not beautiful compared to Mona Lisa, but damn fine stuff for their time, as Phantasy Star II is, and that is why I enjoy it."

Okay, let's say original instead of revolutionary. Like Ecco, now there's an original game. While Bubba 'n Stix is lots of fun, it's not very original compared to other platformer games.

Take Pirates of Dark Water. I would give it a 10, but that's nog being very objective. I love it because I
played it lots when I was a kid, because I like the animated series and because I like what Sega did,
they gave it an ending, something the animated series doesn't have due to its cancellation. While the
game is good fun, let's face it, it's not exactly doing anything we haven't seen before.

    In my opinion, a game that doesn't, doesn't deserve a 9, let alone a 10.

I dunno, I think the usage of the stick and "solving" the obstacles was fairly original.

Yeah, it's not unique but this type of puzzle/platform game is pretty rare on the Genesis.
I can only think of a few games that would fit in such a category: Flashback, Lost Vikings, Prince of Persia, Another World..

Well they're practically the same game..
Except Another World has the frustrato-meter on 11 of 10 at all times.

I couldn't get into this game at all, but I only paid a couple bucks for it. At least it came with free gum.
