    Stage 5-3



    In this segment i was tried to use just 1 pallete for layer 1 and 2, leaving a entire free pallete for some extra enemys if need it
    also we did'nt lost any shade.. so i think the results are satisfatory

    Stage 5-4




    In this stage sadly i have to fit everything in 1 pallete for we have 3 palletes for the last boss, because he have multiples copys at the same time on screen

    I dosent have colors to belt or do the mask looks right using the bkg pallete.. maybe we can use the shinobi pallete for the brown stance..
    or do a black incarnation of final boss. Or just drop 1 copy, i really don't know.. i must talk with trhyphon about this

    I'm currently on a moving, and I won't have Internet for some weeks. But I stay tuned

    Quick answer (I didn't read everything) : for the masked ninja, of course, we can change all colors of the masked ninja palette between two forms, when he's offscreen. So I guess only one palette for masked ninja himself is enough, which lets 2 palettes for backgrounds (maybe 1 palette and a half, and dedicate the remaining half-palette for effects, such as lightnings, magic, white shadows) (of course, this last half palette can be changed between 2 forms)

    When he splits into four sprites, why not leave the main sprite fully colored and use minimal colors on the the others, as they already appear as though they are shades of the main body?

    I think that is a great ideia, and just for a few moment anyway.. (the boss)
    so i will do the bkg using 1 pallete and half, with good space for shadow effects
    1 full pallete for the boss and another for the simple copies
    but haters dosen't will like it

    Kind of off-topic but random thought of the day: a good port is one that makes it look like the game was designed for the target system, not necessarily one that is 100% accurate.

    I honestly didn't expect so much detail to remain intact.

    But it makes sense now that I see that the yellow and red elements are shared with each alternate. I also didn't notice before in the video I checked, that the mustard-green alt actually uses black for its darkest shade.

    I think that when all together, the alts work better all with black for the darkest shade, instead of just that one sticking out like a sore thumb in the arcade version.

    That looks very good, I would just add more contrast to the green ninja for better shading consistency.


    It uses one more color though (56 total), but the darkest shade could be black if needed.

    Edit: Looks like the ninja star over the boss' sprites still uses the arcade colors.

    I was trying to do a second try in my enemys palletes but i see thats is wast of time because we already have others options
    i really like the maxfarras results.. so i revised my work and did all enemys again.



    *** Important Notes***

    1- The first two (spider / green ninja) uses the second bkg pallete like i described before in some stages
    2- Some alternate colors we lost 1 detail shade but dosen't impact the overall result
    3- The original Knife guard man lose 1 detail shade in any of my results, because he uses alot of brow shades and i had to drop one to keep the original feel.
    4- The ninjas had to be sacrificed, each one uses 1 full pallete on arcade so i cuted the clothes shades in half
    5- Each sprite just use 1 pallete
    6- I hope you enjoy guys =D
