Is this for programming your own games in BASIC for Sega Genesis? Is there documentation somewhere?

Yep! Program your own games for the Genesis in BASIC I had to rewrite a part of the parsing engine, so I'm hopefully going to be able to finish that up before Sunday. I have a lot of stuff written down for syntax and commands and such, but it's not complete (about halfway done), so there will be a comprehensive help document and quite a few examples that will be included.

It's been a long journey, but it's now over! SecondBASIC is available at http://www.second-dimension.com/sbasic/

I'm sure there's bugs to be found, but mekanaizer and myself had looked high and low for any issues we could fine. Hopefully we caught the majority of them.

    Cheers!

    That's fantastic! Congratulations!

btw: mekanaizer is an awesome guy! I remember him from the Dreamcast scene.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

It's always awesome to see new development tools being created for the Mega Drive.

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, Mekanaizer has been beyond helpful. There was an issue with the installation not registering the runtime libraries. I updated the installer package (and did a few bug fixes), so if you've had issues (or just want the new version), it's available on the website.

Since SecondBASIC has been released, I've been using it to work on my current projects - one of them being Handy Harvy, and I wanted to show some of the capabilities of SecondBASIC.

Here's a preview of a screen from Handy Harvy:

The building and the avatars below are using the "same" palette, which has more colors than normally allowed. There are limitations with this method, but it's still a nice demonstration of what's capable This is running on the hardware using a custom flash board if anyone is wondering.

    Cheers!

Alright, I sort of lied about the next update having a command line compiling option, but I promise I have a good reason :P

A user reported a bug/question on what was wrong with their code, and it turns out there was an issue when calling user defined functions, so I whipped out a fixed version (along with some IDE bug crashes).

The patch update can be found at http://www.second-dimension.com/sbasic/

    Cheers!
