cross posting, bout how about Crusader of Centy?

It's my favorite action RPG on the Genesis.
But I've always thought the choice of colors was weird. Looks washed out.

This choice of desert color seems too dark and gritty. Maybe the colors used in Aladdin or Taz-Mania's desert/beach stages would look more appealing?

The grass doesnt look vibrant and other colors look washed out

Edit: I fully tested it now and it's definitely a major improvement in sprites/tiles/colors, the port was already good gameplay-wise but with good graphics now it's without a doubt the definite 16-bits port.

I thought it was worth it to upload on Youtube the video fusaru had published on nicovideo:

Wow, Raiden is looking much better than it's usual drab self. Thanks for the comparison vid, Barone.

VV/Grind Stormer is another vert that could use some attention, although that one may be beyond help. The colour lets it down, but apparently the weapon balance is changed from the arcade as well, with the missiles being pretty much useless in the port unfortunately.

As an owner of the real Raiden arcade game, I'm completely blown away by Fusaru's work on the Genesis port. Incredible!

I've been waiting on Raiden Trad forever. As soon as I come back to retro gaming, this will be the game first in line. Thank you, Fusaru.

    Just a little off-topic:

Purchased and received today from an Aliexpress seller a reprocart I asked to make with the Raiden rom patched with Fusaru's hack:

Well, so far it works great on real hardware.

But I decided to have a look inside and this is what I found:

    Huh? AMD? Copyright 1998?

    What chip is that

This begs the question, why did the original developers went with the color choices they did?

i.e. SF2 Guile's stage opting for a muddy field instead of a grassy one, Castlevania's different hair colors, Raiden's different palettes, etc.

A concrete or worn asphalt airstrip lit by a vibrant purple-to-orange sunset is going to look dark beiges/brown or another non-grey color.

Keep in mind that every revision of SFII was recoloring assets and that led to some "good enough" conpromises.

Arcade/source material faithfulness isn't always what looks best or the only way to look great.

I'd like to see a color hack for Strider, I actually asked Pyron about possibly doing this one a while back and he declined saying that Strider was already well done and very close to the arcade original which is mostly true in all fairness, however in a direct comparison the colors in the Genesis/Mega Drive version look dull and washed out and the colors aren't as vibrant as the arcade game because of it (there's also some background details that were lost in the conversion as well because of the duller colors) and I think it'd be nice to have the Genesis/Mega Drive port of Strider with colors that better match the arcade original (I'm actually surprised nobody has mentioned Strider in this thread yet).

I'm think that's the only way to improve strider is descompressing the grafics to redraw some artwork, i want do it with G'nG but i need help on descompress / compress area

peixemacaco ( que nick mais engraçado será que esse bicho existe mesmo?) has just released a color hack for Super Monaco GP!

Super Monaco GP Brunette Edition (Color Hack)

    http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3697/

    According to his description:

    Just amazing!!!

After almost 30 years, Super Monaco GP gets updated, with almost all cars faithful to it`s real life teams.

Madonna, now White/Red in Arcade/Championship Mode
Losel, with the Black color with golden lines from Lotus
Sunset and Night race at Arcade Mode (Super Monaco GP)
Some track’s skies changed, like San Marino, Belgium and Monaco

Main goal is to change the driver’s pictures to resemble 89 season.

And if it’s possible, make an update year by year with F1 starting in 2018 or maybe F-Indy

Hey, it looks quite nice. Got to try it out!
