Default Mega CD 2 with unusual sound

    Hi all

Mega CD 2 is a PAL unit, seems to load games ok, but in the intro/checking disc screen the sound doesnt seem right and it has a bit of clicking noise in there too.

    Anyone seen that before?

Possible capacitor issue. Scratchy or low quality audio tends to indicate that caps need replacing.

I've got a customer's X'eye over here that's got some weird audio problem. It's either the PCM chip or one of the DACs. CD-audio works fine, but anything else is quite distorted. The BIOS music lacks the bass-rumble but if I tilt the board a certain way I can hear some of it (horribly distorted). There was also a damaged trace near the JVC DAC chip; I ran a new wire to restore the two connection points (not sure if length or thickness plays a role) but no apparent change.

Re-solder the surface mount chips, probably some bad joints there.
