    NBA Jam (Sega CD)

Want to cap off your Labor Day weekend the right way? Then why not read our full review of the Sega CD hit NBA Jam? It's got all the B-ball action you'll need, and if you have a few friends with you, this one's going to provide you with hours of fun. Chances are that you already own at least one version of this classic, but we wouldn't be happy if we didn't just review them all!

i think the AVGN had this game on his cavalcade about the sega CD and said he was disappointed because it was the same game as the genesis one, but just had a video with it at half time. Nearly every sports game for the sega CD was like this... I can remember NHL 94, Bill Walsh College Football... just to name a few anyways. I think it might have helped out the system alot more if these games werent more or less the exact same thing as the genesis versions. good review though.

I didn't know this game was released on the Sega CD until I read your review . Isn't the game bothered by many slowdowns/load times like a lot of Sega CD games?

Anyhow, maybe because I don't like basketball (European and all), I never enjoyed NBA Jam. Always seemed like a very moderate Pong-clone to me.

Yeah, it has a lot of slowdown, IIRC - been a long itme since I played.

How is NBA Jam like Pong?

When I play it the ball is only going back and forth in a rapid manner, like Pong

    I had the Genesis version.

I loved getting 100+ points and breaking the backboard in the 3rd quarter.

Of course my and my friend would always play with unlimited turbo and "always on fire" but it was still fun having the dunk contest. Too bad the announcer is gets annoying quickly.

my favorite NBA jam moment was in TE and I was playing as chicago and had 53 injuries with pippen and kept him in. he scored like 12 points. even with turbo he would have violated the 10 second rule, if there was one. i love both of these games, i just came of age during the NBA jam TE period. i was only like 6 when the first one came out.
