    Puyo Double Take: Ecco Jr.

Though Ecco the Dolphin is one of the most beloved franchises on the Genesis, the third game to appear that console isn't particularly well-known. Ecco Jr. was released as part of Sega's Kids Club line, and it was meant for younger audiences. This meant a lot of older gamers passed it by. Should they have? Read on and see.

The original Ecco the Dolphin has that terrible dolphin-screech every time he takes damage, which is probably reason enough for many kids to avoid the first title!
Not just kids, some adults hate it as well. Me included.

OK the article's punctuation was updated, to replace exclamation points with periods. The content of the article is the same.

^Yes the damage-noise from the first Ecco title is disturbing; thankfully it's mostly absent in Tides of Time. And the best way to play the first title is definitely the 32-bit computer version of Ecco the Dolphin, which looks amazing, and the sounds can be changed. The Hands-On article of Ecco PC: Fixed and Enhanced (click here!) explains how to replace the damage noise with the sound of real water, it's awesome.

My first time seeing any Ecco games for like a year:

A few benefits stand out to me, in Ecco Jr., that I hadn't appreciated as much, before:

--The title theme is really great, and stands out as probably the single most cheerful song in the entire series, both 16-bit and 8-bit. Plus the Pico game too. Ecco Jr. has this one stand-out song of cheerfulness and joyfulness.

--The graphics actually do seem appealing when I haven't seen any Ecco games at all, for a long time lol. My eyes don't mind all the simplistic art here, when judged in complete isolation from everything else.

--Without pressing anything, the demo mode is great, especially for young kids. That one great song plays infinitely. Visuals are a small loop of gameplay, but it's nice to look at, especially when u imagine a toddler or baby.

The game could just be left alone, running the demo, so the TV would basically serve as a moving, aquatic decoration in their room, with nice music.
