    Border color is selectable by software, if game chose index0 of second palette in will show up in the border.

    On MD index 0's are only usable by backdrop/border, BGs or sprites never show these colors.

    Ok so you can't leave gaps in the background tiles and assume they will show as black (is it always black?)? It's 15x4 colors then?

    Think of everything getting drawn on top of the backdrop color. Index 0 is never rendered, and any pixels where nothing got rendered in the end will show the backdrop color, which can use any color in the palettes, including index 0's. Backdrop is the only way to use index 0's.
    In the end you get (4 * 15) + 1 colors without any tricks.

    I've Just made a SMS mockup of the upcoming Manganga Team Mega Drive/Sega Genesis homebrew game: Devwill Too MD (wich I am the pixel artist)


    Left is the Seg aGenesis real game, right the SMS mockup.

    The actual Genesis game looks cool, but I'd much rather play a Sega Master System port. Hopefully the reception it receives will encourage ports to other platforms.

    Thanks guys, this is for sure a incentive. After finish the Mega Drive version I have plans to try a NES version (to learn how to use NESmaker). A Master system version whould be awesome, but I'll depend on the help of a programmer to do so (But if I have the time I can even try to make it im part possible hacking AKMW with KiddEd).

    Thanks OmegaMax.

    One thing that I'll have to work a lot for the restriction of SMS and NES are the cutscenes:

    On Mega Drive they are edited and adjusted scans from hand drawings. After hard work of adaptation I select some detail to animate using sprites. For NES and SMS they should be redraw in pure pixel art, saving spaces reciclying tiles and using small sprites.
