Until I get one of those, this will have to do.

Haha. Can the Pocketgame play PAL games as well without issue? (I noticed you had Maui Mallard in it).

No, it only has a JPN/USA region switch. There are jumpers on the motherboard for 50Hz/60Hz, but it messes with the LCD and TV out and it would require another switch mounted somewhere.

    One of mine,

I wanted to say that RADICA is generally considered to be better than AtGames at making clones, being that they are a part of Mattel. These plug-and-plays sometimes have the same issues as many software emulated games, but I'd place my bets on RADICA for making them more reliable and well-built than AtGames. I am thinking of getting the Super Sonic Gold one from eBay for my sister. She has always been more of a casual gamer, but it has Sonic 1 and 2 on it, and those are some of the ones she likes. They're also the only Genesis games she claimed she would ever own the system for. It seems about right.

If I remember correctly, the Radica systems are chip-on-board style GOACs. Much like NOACs you see on the myriad of Famiclones, Radica systems use a gloptop chipset that is a proper hardware clone of the Genesis (with a YM3438, I would think, considering the INSANE audio distortion these things have). I would think a Mega Amp 2.0 Mini could be integrated directly to the motherboard and the A/V cable replaced with one that can carry Stereo sound rather than Mono.

Ace, I finally took some pics of the inside of it. It looks like it's a GOAC as I initially thought, with a ROM chip for the multi-cart(s) beside the GOAC.

Roadkill, that is not a GOAC. While it may look to be one of the less common chip-on-board glop-top chipsets like the one used by Radica, pay attention to the crystal on the motherboard. GOACs can have one of two crystals depending on whether the system is designed for NTSC or PAL, those crystals being 14.31818MHz (NTSC) and 17.73447MHz (PAL). This thing has a 27MHz crystal on it.
You know what else uses a 27MHz crystal? AtGames' heaping piles of trash. That means it's a Titan ARM chipset at its core, though it appears to be running a completely different emulator when you consider the audio output being nothing like the ear-raping filth spewing out of any AtGames product.

It's a Retro Duo Portable (SNES clone) with a Retro Gen (Genesis clone) cartridge.

    ^^

It's a Retro Duo Portable. Primarily it's for playing SNES/Super Famicom on the go.

What you see there is an adapter cart for playing Genesis/Mega Drive games on it as well.

Check out good ol' Joe holding one of those with a bunch of additional add-ons. Even a 32X. lol He looks well chuffed.

Ah I see. Yeah, it does act like an emulator now that I think about it. It kind've reminds me of SEGAGEN pulled from the Dreamcast's Sega Smash Pack where you can see the bottom half of Sonic in the title that is not covered by the circular logo as you mentioned in a previous post.

I just bought one of these, and I read some where that is was a Firecore emulator in the cart, but it seems to play and sound better then the ATgames version. Is the cart an emulator or a Gen on chip?

Who the hell said the RetroGen Adapter is a Firecore chipset? It's a pure hardware clone with a TCT-6801 GOAC. Mind you, it's not perfect, but you can make it quite close to perfect with the appropriate analog circuitry.

Now I feel stupid, and can't find the site that said it. It was somewhere that had it for sale, said it had a firecore. but that would explain why it sounds so much better, and plays better.

EA cartridges are a bit thicker than your usual Genesis fare, they're a tight fit.

I think Japanese Sunsoft cartridges are the one physical incompatibility. The slot on the Pocket MD clone has rounded edges, Sunsoft carts have square corners.

Do EverDrives work on that handheld?
