This seems to come up every few weeks. They should add something to the pre-order page to clarify that the JPN version has English and will work on US and EU systems.

Yep, It's just the packaging and languages.

All versions have English, and all versions will run on either PAL or NTSC systems.

US version had English, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil was a big Mega Drive market)
EU version had English, German, and French
JPN version is English, and Japanese

And yes the shape of the JPN Pier Solar cartridge will fit both the US Genesis and EU MegaDrive systems.

Well over a year ago, when all 3 versions were still available I pre-ordered the JPN version.

I know that but I don't want a Jap copy. I'd prefer a game, box and manual that's completely english.

*I think* the manual is the same, in English for all 3 versions. I don't think they translated the manual to the other languages.

I think I heard mention of the Queen's English being the only one in use. Which, for RPGs, makes me even happier.

Good summary... and I forgot there for a second, it's cart that comes with a CD for better music, not a CD game. Carts are easy to make that work for everyone.

No I'm not, I'm asking. Nitpicking would be more akin to complaining. I would think it would be a tremendous undertaking to have US and UK English in different versions.

That's more information than we needed about you, Chilly Willy.

When you select version on the pre-order page, it says what languages are included right next to it.

cheaterdragon1: The JAP version will have the game, box and manual completely in English.

Another very important question: will the video output of the european version, if it is
set to english, compensate for wearing a monocle? I mean you'll get one side of the
screen magnified with that thing. Since Englishmen and -women cannot be demanded to
take off their monocles, there should be a compensation of the video output on the
    MD-side.

A fuck, now I'm gonna get stuck with some silly looking Japanese version that totally won't match the rest of my collection

I hope you guys at least make the boxart available for download online so that I can print my own to make the box look like the NTSC version.

A fuck, this totally ruined my day. I really have no love for the Japanese MegaDrive logo/box layout. I still pre-ordered it now, but I sure as hell ain't happy about it. I get the feeling I'm gonna have to make custom boxart for this when it comes out ie: scan the J box and photoshop it into a Genesis template.

What, are you gonna glue on a printed artwork on the glossy custom-made cardboard box? It's gonna ruin it. Buy some exclusive JP games and put your Pier Solar copy next to it instead, and it will look good.

Oh I didn't realize the box was gonna be cardboard, I thought it was going to be a plastic clamshell where you can just swap the insert.

Hmm yeah, I guess I'm gonna have to get some Japanese games to put on the shelf, maybe Battlemania or something... Great now see what you did

But SEGA already did that with the switch from the original boxes to the new red Genesis or blue Mega Drive boxes

It shouldn't be too hard to make a boxart that fits the standard plastic cases. But you'd also need a CD case too. A CD won't fit properly inside the plastic cases. Probably why they went with cardboard.

If they did make official download-able ones it'd probably make alot of people happy that couldn't pre-order the version they wanted.

Come on, the Japanese box doesn't even look bad. It has hardly any Japanese on it. I liked it.

This is the only pic of the boxart they released. I wish they would've shown the more of the other covers.
