What things aren't possible on MCD but on MD? The MCD should be able to use the MD for any needs it has, but that ofcourse forces master programming.

Buy stuff at the Magical Game Factory, WaterMelon's crowd funding video game development site!
Do YOU have any games you want to get rid of that haven't been reviewed on the site and needs to be beaten for the sake of this project? Send 'em to me and I'll review and beat them! I'll pay for shipping of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
This is more of a programming question, so I am not the best person to speak about it. But the Mega CD can not do everything the MD can, no matter how much of a master programmer you are.
It has something to do with memory limitations I believe and probably the much quicker access to cartridge then to CD-ROM.
Interesting. Never heard that.
And yeah, I was inquiring about whether or not we'd have to take out our 32Xs to play, a la Beggar Prince.
Link in the thread?
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...
Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

Héhé. Yeah, the game will work on all models, all hardware combo... Be sure of that
About the megacd weak question... It's just a memory access reason. Cartridge offer a lot more flexibility in both speed & random access. And a rpg require a lot of random access
Yeah, for the disc release... I wonder where w'll find the USA cases![]()
Thx a lot for the interest![]()
Heck, even the Sega R&D guys I've talked to agree that the Sega CD is horrible to program for.Originally Posted by 108 Stars
Hmm, don't feel like you need to use those. I'd be perfectly happy with a normal jewel case or DVD case or something. Those huge American boxes are horrible.Originally Posted by Fonzie
Has anyone considered the possibility of the game using both the cart and CD at the same time? As in, release independent cart and CD versions, each having their own separate advantages and disadvantages, but also make them recognize each other. Maybe the cart version could attempt to boot the CD and then run primarily the CD version but use the cart's rom whenever it would be beneficial. Or possibly you could have it just run the cart but load better voices and / or music from the CD.
Of course that's probably far more complicated than it's worth, but it would give me a really good excuse to buy both.![]()
That would be amazingly difficult to program for, but awesome at the same time. The only use I'd see for that would be to have the music use the PCM chips in the Sega CD. Can a cartridge be programmed to use the PCM chips in the Sega CD on its own (no CD in the drive)?
Beggar Prince worked with the 32X and Sega CD attached, it was the save file that didn't work at all with the 32X and got occasionally corrupted for some reason when the Sega CD was hooked up.
That's what I was referring to.Beggar Prince worked with the 32X and Sega CD attached, it was the save file that didn't work at all with the 32X and got occasionally corrupted for some reason when the Sega CD was hooked up.
As far as I know there should not be any problem with the 32X attached to the system. Unfortunatelly we cannot take advantage of the hardware, though, since it is a 16 bit engine only.![]()
About the CD cases, don't worry. It will be the single Compact Disc Jewel Case only. No big cases no waste of space! We are following more of the Dreamcast model.
0x15e, there are several ideas for the release of this game. We are planning to come up both with cartidge and CD. Maybe the cartidges will become available first for some special reasons, but anyway there are lots of ideas in our minds, such as a Bonus version that comes with the Double CD including bonus materials, artworks, making of, wallpaper and High Quality soundtrack included. Also the Premium Pack including both the Cartidge Version and the Double CD version.![]()
Stay tunned!![]()

Hey guys I was just at the Tavern site there looking at some more of those fantastic screenshots, looks amazing I have to say,
One thing, I am very excited about the fact ye are developing characters in the game and seem to be keen on infusing a proper interesting storyline, which does make my mouth water in any Rpg, but I'm just hoping that the dialogue turns out natural,
Eg. In the top screen shot, one of the dialogue boxes has the long winded, "I just wish he was not so much overprotective" and another one has "We are her to visit him and see if he is doing better", now these are probably thrown together for the screen shots and possibly aren't lines from the script because they are slightly longwinded and could affect the smoothness of the story telling...
Obviously "I just wish he wasn't so overprotective" and "We are here to visit him and see how he's doing" would be more closely related to actual speech.
I'm sure ye have the story and dialogue perfectly sussed, considering 108's english seems to be better than any on this board and he's German! But I was just making sure considering ye hark from Brazil to France to Bangladesh!
Thanks anyway, I'm probably reading far too much into a screenshot in which ye fired in random dialogue for the sake of it,
"Age badly is something women do, games are good or bad when they are released. "
"It's like watching Runic stones by vikings here in Täby: not beautiful compared to Mona Lisa, but damn fine stuff for their time, as Phantasy Star II is, and that is why I enjoy it."
Zebbe speaks on the quality of how 16-bit games hold up against modern counterparts 28/07/07 beautiful
Funny how this is the same thing that happened during the Beggar Prince hype - there were comments almost instantly on the dialog shown in the screenshots. IIRC there was also a lot of arguing.
Don´t worry, the screenshots really do not use the real script; those dialogues were inserted for testing the game only. The real dialogue is being written at this very moment.^^
Funny side-note: after all the talk about naked women because of the Exile-side-by-side, I was just asked on DP if we will include some boobs...
It seems pixelated lo-res boobs really are a selling point!
