I was talking about the need for a megacart to boot-up a model 1 JP Mega CD. It sounds crazy. I didn't know that.

Oh. It's a American Sega CD, on a Japanese MegaDrive. They don't normally play together. The Megacart is the only way I can eject the disc as far as I know.

I usually just use the FM music though, I prefer it.

I prefer FM too. I started noticing that after playing through both versions of Mickey Mania on the Genesis and Sega CD. Although, now that I've ordered the OST for Pier Solar, I might want to play the game (haven't yet) with it.

    You're in Florida, though. Aren't Model 1s a dime a dozen where you're at?

Yes, I have 3 American model 1's, but prefer the Japanese variant.

It's no batter or worse, if anything, maybe a little worse due to no RF shielding, but it's a Mega Drive. I love it.

evildragon: Go to the title screen options, select "detect disc" and the game will open the tray for you, like Joe Redifer said.

Buy stuff at the Magical Game Factory, WaterMelon's crowd funding video game development site!

Do YOU have any games you want to get rid of that haven't been reviewed on the site and needs to be beaten for the sake of this project? Send 'em to me and I'll review and beat them! I'll pay for shipping of course. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Ok. Well "Detect Disc" isn't exactly easy to figure out. Should say Eject or something.. I don't think that was even in the manual.

I am rather curious to know a ballpark estimate as to how many copies have sold at this point. Are we talking Hundreds? Thousands?

I figure they've sold 10,000 or more by now.

Well, if I remember correctly someone mentioned the first run was 800 per region variation, so that's 2400 right there. Plus theres a couple hundred of the posterity edition.

So if that's correct that's pushing to 3000 right there without including any of the reprints.

    I estimate around 2600 originals+2000 reprints+2000 reprints again+ 1500 ENG/SPA/POR= 8000 units or so

3x 800 = 2400 was the initial print run, and that included the posterity editions (which were identical to the others aside of a sticker and the Size 16 magazine/hint book)

The reprints were 500 each so that's another 1500 if I am not mistaken.

btw, is there any differences between posterity and classic editions? aside from tiny sticker and insert inside? I'm not sure I should open my posterity edition to find out
