    Default Rail Shooters

Is there anything that's a railshooter like Starfox or Panzer Dragoon on the Gen?

    edit:
Or like Rez. for Gen, 32x or SCD

From the top of my head...

    Space Harrier
    Space Harrier II
    Panorama Cotton

... but I would suggest checking the Shmup extravaganza feature. The different types of shooters are sorted there.

ok, re-read that article. Is the 32x version of Space Harrier better? Is Starwars Arcade considered a rail shooter?

Better than what, the arcade? Its supposed to be less awesome than the Saturn version. Its still technically superior to SH2.

Star Wars Arcade allows you to move freely, and can therefor not be considered a rail shooter.

What I meant about Space Harrier was versus the Genesis sequel. But I see what you mean. How about vs the emulation in Shenmue (the real reason I want it, I got addicted to it there)?

I'd say Burning Force classifies as a rail shooter. It's pretty much in the same vein as Space Harrier II.

Space Harrier 32x is waaaay better than the stock Genesis version.

Best rail shooter = Afterburner 32x.

Rail shooters... You might wanna look for Burning Force as that's a great shooter of this type IMO. Great music, and good gameplay too.

Thunder Force 3 is a rail shooter. So is Thunder Force 4. And Wings of Wor. And Arrow Flash. And Gleylancer. And Bio Hazard Battle. And Zero Wing. And Truxton. And MUSHA. And Fire Shark. And Task Force Harrier EX. And Phelios. And Whip Rush. Need I go on?

Those aren't really rail shooters, Joe, unless you want to classify ALL shmups as rail shooters. Which is, I guess, your point. Obviously, though, rails are considered to be shmups with especially limited range of motion and computer control of view angle and movement. Which aren't really qualities of the games you mentioned, IMO.
