Sorry for the massive delay! Mrs and I went out for tea

    Updates
I rewrote the way frames are loaded into VRAM. I now make full use of DMA every vblank. This means transfer is at maximum 150 tiles per vblank. This stabilises the frame rate further and means there should be no VGM slowdown at all.

I've also recieved a heavily tweaked VGM file from Alianger that plays better with Stef's XGM driver.

I've changed the measure used to tweak the frame rate. We now work with subticks which are a much finer grain of delay at a hardware level. You'll notice the subTick delay is set at 9800 from the get go.

You can still alter the delay using up and down. A button displays the current delay value and Start resets the FMV.

I'll await feedback of the best subTick delay value so I can set it as the default in ROM.

I've zipped the animation as pngs and linked it below to allow people with better optimisation skills to tweak frames

    Frame rules:
    1. must be PNG
    2. must be 216 x 120 resolution
    3. must be 15 colours + 1 black (index 0)

    Frames: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7...TBnekdJUkw0NkU

P.s thanks to Stef for his help on this! he's a genius

This is progressing nicely. So glad to hear you were able to pick up an X7 too. You deserve it

Here's a raw FLAC of the new rom, from my Nomad's Headphone output: https://mega.nz/#!iNxG3DRK!H6QTFNIuD...92SphvbRIQSZ_A
    edit: link updated

I had an idea for compressing the frames better than just raw tiles. Create a dictionary of the most common tiles, then store the tiles as differences to the closest dictionary tile. Then compress with lz4w/aplib/whatever on top.

This would create better compressible tiles, as they would contain more zeroes. The cost would be one color less, black would have to be one of the 15 colors, as color 0 would mean "use the pixel from the dictionary tile".

Oh and another small project in the pipeline. I may remove the extended bits to get the frame rate as good as the Sonic Mania video

Thanks hopefully Alianger can make sure of that!

Bit miffed what to do with the Sonic CD intro, I'd like to edit out the new segments of footage and have only the SEGA CD segments but its a big job!

I've just done some very selective trimming! The rainbow section and the water section has been removed! I noticed in the PC version you don't get the chain linked to the Robotnik face! Just compiling this up so I can see what the results are! I've also been discussing vblank further and I maybe able to push the max 150 tiles further it just becomes more risk of crashing! I need to debug the assembler code to fathom how many cycles I have I've been told possibly 35 which would mean I could raise my limit to 223 tiles from 150. I'm going to try 180 to begin with.

I've noticed a band of green pixels down the left hand side of the video. I need to check the source as I think that's where it has come from!

Anyhow here is the Sonic CD intro with edits in ROM: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7...0FjSllXRFI4Rjg

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to matteus again.
