Talking Got my hands on a freakin Korean Sega Mega Drive model 1!

To think, of all places I'd get the chance in getting one. It's inside the U.S.

Considering how effing rarely I see them up for sale, I had to jump on it.

    Behold!

Images of the board, which is bloody mint. (Has a 1145m video chip)

AN HELL NO. I am not modding this console one bit. The most I'll do would later on recap it but that's it. Not even going to change the LED.

Awesome to finally have my first Korean and also Jap Mega Drive console

Also, apart from the 6 button arcade controller. It came with this odd Korean copy of Streets of Rage 3. More strange that it has the NTSC rom to it, which is a dam shame.

The back label damage was already there, giving me the change to remove the screws.

Definately not a fan of the cartridge shell used for Japanes or Korean games, mostly because of how the name is on the edge... sometimes it doesn not seem to fit in that space.

Good score. I miss my Korean Mega Drive. I hate being poor. I got for mine $30 back in the day and sold it a few years later for like $160 when I really needed money. Went all the way to France. So neat.

Bothers me that this video is the only proof of this specific Korean Genesis model 1 to exist. Love the Samsung Logo under the 16 bit brand.

I disabled the cart lock mech on my JPN va3 MD. Didn't have to remove it just had to undo it and move it over to a different spot so it doesn't engage the power switch anymore. That allows me to play US carts on it much more easily.

Too bad it didn't come with that Turtle Ship game. Is the Samsung Sega up in quality like the HDG Genesis model 1?

That's very real. I"ve seen the newer logo even on Korean Sega Master System units.

Thats a pretty awesome catch. Are Samsung Mega Drive's 50 or 60Hz, does anyone know?

    Photos suggest 60Hz and NTSC.

Should be 60 Hz NTSC, I see Korean systems using the KA2195D encoder which is NTSC-only.

Speaking of which, does that system use the usual CXA1145P, or a KA2195? It'd be really odd if it was a VA4 with a SMD encoder. (All VA3~6.5s I know use through-hole encoders.)

So that's the Super Gam*Boy, right? The logo is different than the one I have, which I think is the Super Aladdin Boy.

Think that's the Korean's name for the super nintendo, which has by far. The most oddest old school video game commercial I've ever seen...
