Default Golden Axe Warrior world map

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I was into making game maps on excel.

I made maps for Warsong, Golden Axe Warrior - and by torturing excel unmercifully I was able to make hex grid maps for Brigandine and Dark Wizard.

A short time ago I found someone that could make gilcee canvas maps - so I had two of the Golden Axe Warrior maps made:

    The smaller one is 11" x 17" while the larger is 24" x 36".

The guy that made them for me can now make them as big as 60" x 90" - not sure what I would do with one that large but it sure would be a unique piece.

That's pretty darn cool! Did you ever share the map files anywhere?

I don't mind sharing them - it is not like I hold a copyright to the material.

There are other versions of the GAW map available - none as nice as mine IMHO (but I freely admit to being somewhat biased ^___^). Just pm me with your email if you want it.

The Warsong maps were on 5" floppies which have since vanished in the sands of time - I have paper copies somewhere.

Unfortunately the Brigandine and Dark Wizard map files are not useable. The latest version of excel does not support the function I used to make the hexes. Apparently that was only available on excel 2010 (although I thought I had worked on those prior to that - but it was quite a while ago so my memory may be hiding (likely in the twilight zone or the bermuda triangle) the truth from me). I do have the paper copies of those handy though.

Edit - just for grins I figured out how many cells are in the GAW map - a whopping 36,000! Maybe this thing qualifies for the 13th labor of Hercules................

This is the correct response. I actually did the same years ago with Shining in the Darkness. That map demanded to be graphed.

Fantastic stuff. Would look even cooler on the wall in the form of a tapestry.

Attachments don't work on this forum.

They do if you know how to use them (and kudos to Jake for knowing!):

If you choose the "Insert Image" icon instead, it'll appear to work, but you'll always get the error where only you see your attachments, and everyone else just sees dead links that say "Attachment 3234" etc.
It's not intuitive (to say the least) but it is functional -- and a lot better than having Tinypic or Imgur recycle the image URL in a few years, thus turning a thread about Sega games into a thread about a vacuum cleaner, a Latvian political meme, and a rando's selfie.

Thanks - those things sucked up a lot of time - but IMHO the results were worth it.
