Default Mortal Kombat not working on Model 1

Sorry if this has been covered before. When I try to play Mortal Kombat on my model 1 sega cd it won't get past the sega screen with sonic. I previously played this copy on other systems but never on a model 1. The bios is 1.01 What can I do to fix this?

This sounded familiar (Mortal Kombat and model 1 Sega CD) and so a quick Google surfaced this:

The answer is on page 156. Acclaim would replace your copy of Mortal Kombat if it doesn't run on a Model 1 Sega CD, assuming you sent them the disc like 24 years ago.

I have Mortal Kombat for my (PAL) model 1 Mega CD and the only problem I occasionally have with it is that it sometimes crashes during the loading screen in between fights. I wipe the disc and make sure it's spotless and then it usually plays fine after that. Yours isn't even getting past the Sega boot up screen though, so I would think there is a different problem there.

    Xb Interesting

I seem to have had similar issues with this title.
My backup works fine on the model 2, but not so much on my (modded)X-box.

Swap out the BIOS on your modded Xbox with the BIOS from a model 2. I've already linked the cause, and the solution is so simple a caveman could do it.

I didn't know that could actually happen on the Sega CD between models and BIOS revisions.

I tried changing the bios using an everdrive and it just hung a little longer and went to a black screen

I have two model 1 Sega CD systems one with a Sony drive and one with a JVC, both are running the same bios, the one the the Sony Drive works fine and the one with the JVC does not. If i swap the drives, the trouble follows the JVC Drive. I wonder if this is consistent between users having issues loading this game?

there are copies out there that Aklaim replaced that would work on the my version of the model 1. Is there any visual difference? Also if anyone has that version and would like to trade I will pay shipping for both.
