The odd thing with Codemasters games is that the music often plays at the correct speed in NTSC. They definitely play better in PAL, though.

Believe it or not, that may be the majority of cases. Especially due to the great job Electronic Arts did as a publisher: 99% of their (yellow-tab) carts are region-free and have the adjusted audio regardless if you play in NTSC or PAL. If only the their quality control had been followed by others...

By the way, based on my hands on experience I would recommend 50hz speed in the following games:

    Accolade:
    -Turrican
    -Double Dragon
-Universal Soldier (notice the adjusted audio compared to the first one)

    Bitmap Brothers:

    all four of them:
    -Gods
    -Speedball 2
    -Chaos Engine
    -Xenon 2 (locked anyway)

    Core Design:
    -Chuck Rock
    -Wolfchild (even if US release)

Bubba and Chuck II seem have been finely tuned for NTSC

    Vectordean:
    -Pond 1
    -Pond 2

    Pond 3 has been optimized.

    Gremlin:
-Zool (the only yellowtab EA release that I know of which is locked. Choose it over the Gametek release)

    Probe:
    -Alien 3

    Software Creations:
-Blaster Master 2 (even if US release)

    Virgin Games:
    -The Terminator

    Delphine Software:
    -Flashback
    -Shaq Fu

    Dynamic:
    -Risky Woods

DMA Design and Factor 5 did optimise their NTSC releases of Lemmings 2 and Mega Turrican (and in fact the European ones are locked).

Thanks for the info. In the case of the Bitmap Bros. ports, I'm under the impression that the US versions of Speedball 2 and "Soldiers of Fortune" are inferior versions even without the PAL/NTSC difference. Good thing Mega SG has PAL support (and my TV seems to support it in HDMI). I'm under the impression that some Sega CD versions of Core games may have been optimized since there was a video claiming that some of them ran slower compared to the Genesis versions.
