    Default Removing color transcoding

    Hi guys,

I have just got hold of a an Asian Mega Drive (I think it is a VA5) which has been transcoded to PAL-M. You can see a picture here IMG_20181220_203709.jpg

How do I go about to make it NTSC again? Do I just remove that crystal and the wire?

Yeah, but PAL-M creates some speed problems in games. It completely sucks...

OFC not, transcoding the color system is not the same of console region,
euro consoles runs in pal at 50hz, your console still runing at 60hz in 320x224 even in pal-m.

You're correct. But, somehow, Hellfire runs slower on a PAL-M console. It is completely weird. Also, care to explain why you prefer PAL-M colors vs NTSC?

Its not preference, i have another consoles in NTSC and its amazing. I had some Mega Drive in the past, now i just have one. Two of them are japanese model 1 and have serious problems with jail bars.. more pronuncing in RGB. So i tired transcode it to pal-m because my first mega and the actual one i did it and solve this problem, the cristal frequence of pal-m is diferent than the ntsc thats helps solve the problem of interference over vdp improving image quality. Also if you gonna use rgb output theres no diference in image quality between, ntsc jp, ntsc us, pal or pal m. So keeping the pal-m help you improve the IQ of your console, but only if the transcode method is done correctly.

*note: I play hellfire with no problems here.
