Default New Genesis/MD Games by Piko Interactive- Official Thread

We have 12 new games on our store ready for pre-order! Out of those 12 games there are 3 Genesis titles! Pre-orders will start shipping on April 15 2019! Only 45 day pre-order! $5 price hike will apply on and after April 15 2019!

The ONLY Reason we are doing pre-orders is because we are moving to a larger space where we will have a small store front (with regular retro game inventory as well). We should be moved in by the first week of April. I got to do some renovations on the new space and move lots of stuff. But the games are already in stock in our offices. There will be limited quantities of our titles from now on, and when they run out it will take some time to do re-runs.

Here are the list of Genesis titles available for sale:

Canon: Legends of The New Gods - Genesis

    Switchblade - Genesis

    Thunderbolt II - Genesis

Games come with box, instruction manual and game cartridge!

If you have any comments or questions, please let me know!

Canon looks like it still has Seiken Densetsu 3 assets.

We really took a deep look at everything and really didn't find out any sources of them being directly ripped from any other game. There were some songs that were from other games. But the assets were more like inspired by, just like Water Margin, they look very similar but were not really ripped and 1:1.

If Square Enix would come to us and contest it, we'll take care of them.

Do get Canon! Shining Force CD-esque gameplay in Chinese fantasy setting with lots of humour, colourful graphics and surprisingly good music!

Pre-ordered Canon and Gourmet Warriors! I'm trying to do a little more research on some of the others before taking the dive. Great to have more to play with!

    Great news piko!
Can't wait to play Canon (one of my favorite chinese games) and Switchblade!
What is the story behind this Switchblade port? It's a modern port or a back in the day cancelled MD port?
    Keep it up!!!

Canon is an excellent Strategy RPG! I had a ton of fun playing it in (to me) gibberish. Really looking forward to the seeing the translated story.

Hey! I'd like to ask this question for it to be on the record.

Do newly manufactured Piko Interactive cartridges use Level Shifters on the cartridge lines?

Stop falling for that Hoax please! These PCBs WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR CONSOLE. They use a voltage regulator like always.

Your static on your hand/clothes is more dangerous to the console than this pcbs.

By the way, here are some gameplay videos of the games:

I'm considering a couple games but I'm concerned about the cartridge, label and box quality. Have seen videos with piko game labels coming off like like a ten dollar AliExpress cart. Or issues with the cartridge plastic being flimsy. Hmmmmm

Can't you just say whether you use level shifters? Voltage regulators are not the level shifters, they just provide 3.3V power (though the shifters do rely on the regulator, so you probably want to clarify that if it's indeed the case).

If you use level shifters you could just say "yes" to put this to rest and point everybody to that in the future and call it a day (・~・)

Alright let's play your game, please explain to me how a voltage regulator mitigates the issue? Please answer using clear and concise engineering, show your calculations where required.

    Edit:
Again you're calling my engineering a hoax, which is a less than fancy way of calling me a liar - which you already did on Twitter and later appologized for. Now you're just hiding on forums instead of insulting me publicly on Twitter. Here's where you appologized in case you don't remember: Twitter post where you appologize...

Your phrasing: "These PCBs WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR CONSOLE" shows you lack any sort of understanding whatsoever about the underlying issue here. Even one of your PCB designers, Retrostage, publicly said that you specifically requested the cheapest possible PCB.

Let's also point out that no one other than cheap cartridge designers and/or game sellers has ever argued against doing a proper electrical design for game cartridges. The reason is simple: a proper electrical design costs more. I again will take this opportunity to applaud Krikzz for correcting most of his existing designs.

As for the engineering side, let this be a simple lesson to you
    • Most risk is excessive heat within the ICs on the cartridge PCB
    • Putting resistors is a cheap solution that mitigates the risk, but not all of it
    • Best thing to do is add real level translation

    Other questions that deserve asking:
    • Hard gold?
    • Beveled edges?
    • Throughholes trimmed shorter than 2 inches?
    • Cartridge shell so out of spec that it barely fits in your genesis?

    Code:

    } while (Nintendont());
