The game may be in the firmware of the msg in public access but probably encrypted.

There may be a hypervisor in the msg software, accessing other memory areas seems compromised.

There are other solutions that are long, expensive, technically advanced and without guarantees, but perhaps not so much.

Those who will offert the game via the dump will make history more than the game itself.

The switch version is coming and also on ps4, so the msg version will be forgotten in the history of video game (except cartridge version), what an irony.
Because KEGA Fusion is anything but absurd.

I think it's a little shady to be distributing a game that is currently and newly on sale. I really have no problem with ROM libraries of classic systems to preserve gaming history, but directly cutting into the profits of a small business just rubs me the wrong way.

Still, I don't really think this is going to have too major an impact on sales of the Mega SG. The game's inclusion is a footnote in most reviews, including mine:

The Mega SG has so much more to offer retro gamers.

Personally I'm never buying the hardware, particularly just to get an unreleased game. So if the game is never dumped, I'll never play it. Which is fine, but I'm sure that's the same for a lot of people. So if someone WERE to extract the rom I don't think it would really affect sales.

Fair enough. I can definitely see your point, and I think it would be respectful of all the hard work that went into the console to hold off on such an endeavor until the thing had a few months to lure in any that would be swayed by the included software.

Like I said, no issue with emulation and backups as historical preservation once the initial (1st hand) market for the games has dried up.

It looks like I was right, the game is taking a while to get dumped. But if my only way to play this game on my existing console is to pay $133, then I hope it gets dumped sooner rather than later.

I would happily pay the going retail for a Sega Genesis cart of this game but I can't. Don't want to resort to pirating but also don't want a mega sg, PS4 or switch. 😕

Well, I've seen at least two people play it in emulators (so the thread subject is technically correct), but whether anybody released the ROM publicly is another matter.

For context: we're talking about the Columbus Circle release here.
