Given the extremely limited print run, I wonder where they were supposed to be sourcing them from.
I had my Play-Asia preorder cancelled too... everywhere had sold out by the time they let me know this too, so I had to go to eBay. I think I got it for a pretty good price considering what the ones on there are currently going for.

Don't suppose you know any potential stores in Tokyo that sell it? (especially in Akiba) Got a Friend in Tokyo at the moment. Could get him to confirm that.

My copy arrived. Comparing the original artwork of the new version with the old version, the new one looks much darker, so the printing wasn't of the highest quality. I also compared the thickness of the PCBs, but I don't notice much of a difference between them. Still, I didn't test the game, for if what was said about the PCB bending the pins of the cart slot is true.

Note that colors fade away with time (avoiding light and especially sunlight helps, but it does slowly fade away eventually) so comparing just brightness isn't going to be the best indicator. Especially if they struggled to get access to the original artwork and had to do with a copy (I know that for the Mega Drive Mini they had to resort to looking for photos of the artwork for each game and then retracing it…).

A comparison would be nice however, I guess.

Yeah, the fade of colours is too bad. For this comparison, it's not just the brightness, the colours are more vivid on the original, where they're more muddy in the re-release.

I'll try to post a comparison tomorrow.

I'm seeing eBay prices of about 90 GBP - is that the going rate?

It’s coming down, I’ve seen Japanese sellers letting it go at the £70 mark. Looks like the scalpers are being left with stock. Good.

Probably because there's a second run coming (from what I can tell).

Good on them, maybe they'll polish the packaging as well then.
