Wow! I wish they could work on a real game using that technique, it looks awesome for a MD. I still prefer 2D games though.

Cool! Much smoother than the original ST demo and it seems smoother looking than the SNES SuperFX port, though it does run in a smaller window.

Coincidentally (or not), the 3D section was also ported to the 3DO not too long ago.

The whole thing was a challenge to port ST-NICCC using the original data to as many platforms as possible. Somebody ported it to PSP too, there's even a freaking SVG remake lol.

Note that the source material was 256200, hence the windowing (Mega Drive has a higher resolution so it had to be padded). SNES width is already 256px so there was no need to pad horizontally, though they also opted to just letterbox instead of padding vertically (or did they stretch the coordinates vertically?).

That is incredible, wish I knew how it was possible. A 3D game like that would be amazing, maybe something like S.T.U.N. Runner with the tunnel segments. It all seems too good to be true though, like it would bog down once you added game logic and enemies.

One guy in the YouTube comments says he's working on a write-up explaining how they did it.

Yeah, I guess it would, even if you kept a fixed path rather than a dynamic one. At best, I expect something like that Star Fox POC on the Mega Drive. Not that it's impossible to do better than that, but I just don't expect anyone to spend that much time into such a project.

so cool! Its like silpheed on Genesis :O

I want to see more of this kinda thing for SCD. So much underdeveloped dev opportunity there.

a lot of stuff that starts off in the demo scene gets put into real games. its kinda like alpha code showoff tricks.

Oh cmon... really? That's like the one thing I haven't modded my genesis for.

Anyone know a quick way to try PAL games?

The PAL version of Sonic Spinball is region locked if I remember correctly.

Rise of the Robots is like the one game that only works correctly in PAL (the opening is bugged up in NTSC) but I don't want to torture you with that game :v

EDIT: wait, is this to test a region mod or just to try to by-pass it anyway? Because as long as the video is 60Hz it won't work in this case.

Edit: Not a method but something to be aware of if you bypass the region lock.

Found out why 60hz is blocked. 3D section has some distortion when set to 60

Otherwise, it plays fine at the start.

That, and the starfield effects are too slow as well (30 instead of 50 fps). There was just not enough time to do any NTSC fixing.
