I haven't played either of those two, but I remember hearing about Fix It Felix at some point. If I had to take a wild guess at the most popular homebrew, I would probably guess Pier Solar. Tanglewood has also been getting some great press. Pier Solar in my mind is kind of the original high production value Genesis homebrew.

I'm not huge in to ROM hacks, but I used to play a lot of sonic hacks. Sonic MegaMix is a big stand-out. I've followed some of Pyrons work too, and have been impressed.

One hack I've been following is for Price of Persia 2. I helped a bit with some of the music, but haven't been very active any more.

The black bars CE beta/turbo pirate for me. The whole mystery surrounding it makes my Fonzie hard.

There are a lot of homebrews/indie games/hacks to list !

At this moment I think of Sonic the hedgehog Next Level :

Because KEGA Fusion is anything but absurd.

There are a lot of homebrews to list too for me too, but for hack my most favorite is Big's Fishing Derby
The gameplay is changing drastically so it's like a new homebrew game on its own.

Looking forward to this, just listen to that music:

You'd expect the C64 version to sound way better, but nope, the NES keeps up just fine.

    This thread needs more... ENGINEERS

Agreed! Another homebrew with good music on C64 is BomberLand :

Great info so far guys, thanks. I think it goes for me 1) Indie : Pier Solar/WaterMelon, 2) Home : Wolf3Dv11/gas68 3) Home : SF2SCEv7Pyron+Stef but I really need to try more systems homebrews. Saw a great MUSHA Master System video once, wish that was out. Super Mario Bros for c64 looked amazing though.
