Default What is going on with my Jim Power cartridge???

The game which is for those who don't know, has neber been released officialy, funs much faster on my genesis 1 than on the genesis 2. The action is faster but the music even more so.

None of my systems have been modified to play 50hz, pal games or whatever. Both are genesis systems and yet the game runs faster on one genesis than on the other?

    Why??

Are other games like this?Games with a different experience depending on the model?

I bought the game from a UK seller so maybe it runs on 60hz on genesis 1 and and 50hz on genesis 2??I doubt it though.

Do you know which sub-version of model 1 and model 2 you have? Different Genesis/MD either have a YM2612 or YM3438 sound chip. All but the latest (VA7) model 1s have a YM2612. I think only VA2.3 and VA2(?) model 2s have a YM2612, the rest are 3438. The two sound chips mostly the same, but a few games have timing differences between them.

Earthworm Jim and some space shooter I can't remember the name of are two examples. However, the speed issues are limited to sound and not gameplay. Earthworm Jim has weird rhythm issues, and the space shoother plays music at the wrong speed IIRC.

Maybe Jim Power is somehow linking game speed with the sound chip? Just my speculation.

Model 1 with 10mhz overclock & halt switches
    Model 1 with 10mhz 68010
    Model 2 VA2.3 with unfiltered Mega Amp, & s-video
    Model 3 VA1 with compatibility fixes & s-video
    32X with s-video

Hellfire's the game you have in mind:

As for now, I can tell which sub-versions my genesis are. The genesis 1 is the high graphics definition one though.

And yes..I heard about Hellfire. I own the game but I haven't noticed anything special about. I haven't run any real tests though.

It is because you have an incomplete version of the game and a bootleg cart. The final version of the game PAL and NTSC optimized is coming this holiday season.
