Exactly the point. I'm not paying $30 dollars for some burger king indie game that sucks and is a glitchfest lol. In the end someone is getting stuck holding the hot potato. Their playing a speculation game of intrinsic monetary value. So when the demand dies you get left with a bunch of sealed shitty games that don't even have a monetary value any more. But that is what the company created. Games based on intrinsic value not based on how good they are.

Meanwhile my copy of Pier Solar sells on the regular, for about double what I paid for it, and the value keeps increasing. Not that what one copy would sell for would help me in any way, and I bought it expecting it to be something akin to Lunar, but for Genesis. WHOOPS. Got sick of it in about an hour.

They should change their name to Limited Fun Games.

I honestly think the whole single print run trend is a load of bs, if there is demand for a game then there should be multiple print runs. One example of that kind of thing really irritating me was when Limited Run had the 90s shooter Game Tengoku on their site, well they decided to do just 1,200 copies and no limit to how many someone can buy so they were sold out in minutes.

Some of us actually have to go to work and don't have time to sit in front of the computer and hit refresh over and over. Oh well, at least there was a physical in Japan which I gladly bought instead. I mean it's one thing to have a 2 week to a month pre order window open but to just basically be like "hey heres 1,000- 2,000 copies for the scalpers and thats it" is kinda bs. I'm over it, just felt like giving my 2 cents since most of their games don't interest me anyway except for a few.

If we didn't have these limited runs then the other option would be no release at all for the majority of these games. For many titles I doubt I'd shed a tear, but LRG has brought out physicals for some pretty awesome titles as well as for that I'll be appreciative.

It would be nice if everyone could get a copy, and the do currently do open preorders for 2-3 weeks for many titles (Freedom Planet is one that just closed) so I think they're learning a bit.

The main difference is that for a lot of those games you can still get a downloadable version on the same system (and in fact it's usually the best path if you just want to play the game), while what sparked this thread was this happening on a system where that was not an option, effectively rendering that single print the only way to play it there (no, Mega Sg doesn't count since you literally need to buy a whole new console just for it and even if you buy it you still can't take it to the console you already owned).

We already have enough trouble with the market speculating extremely hard with the older games and we don't need the same thing happening with new releases.

Funny enough I went to Best Buy yesterday and saw several limited run games like Golf Story and other titles. If they're actually releasing games to retail chains I'll have to give them a little bit of respect for that since all I recall them doing was rationing out their games on their website during limited time pre-orders.

"Collectards" (as I guess is the preferred parlance around these parts) would initially buy up the whole stock the slow way, but eventually figured out the server hooks, and made their own systems for submitting orders without the website itself, which would often lag or crash due to the excessive traffic at the time of each sale. Mattel was informed of this, and indicated that they didn't care, as long as the product sold.
As a collector of MOTU, Mattel used mattycollector as the site where you would go to buy the figures when it went up for sale. The problem(s) were rudimentary. The sales never started at noon like was advertised. Even worse was the fact that mattycollector didn't knwo its ass from a hole in its head in terms of gauging interest thus having even servers and such ready for the onslaught. Some of the problems stemmed from people buying a lot and thinking they made a killing when many of the figures were reprinted some time later. The biggest issues, IMO, were a b.s. fulfillment middle man.

If you notice, those games are Only @ Best Buy. Earlier today I picked up Chef Brigade Deluxe for Switch and I plan on buying the (name escapes me) Castlevania game once I order it online.

Now I wasn't really aware of that but I guess I can't be too upset about it since it was nice walking into a retail store and being able to buy physical games on a shelf.

Won't be everything either and it's still limited. It's something even if not much.
