Megadrive Mega Drive Mini Reader Roundtable special next month?

I was thinking, since the Reader Roundtable feature has laid dormant for about a year and since the Mega Drive/Genesis Mini is being released this and next month, how about having a special Reader Roundtable celebrating the release?

That would be great... if there are people to contribute. The RR was retired because no one was contributing.

I will buy one and happily contribute.

    Great to hear, Baloo!

    Anyone else interested?

I just ordered one from Japan. Aside from the 2 new ones, it has 6 games I don't have already, while the European version only has 2 games I don't have already. Plus, it comes with the 6 button controller. I just can't justify paying for a 3 button controller when a 6 button controller exists.

Is someone doing Darius individual review for the site?

    Nope. It's open for review.

I got my copy. It looks really good and was easy to hook up. The interface and the "new" music by Yuzo Koshiro are both stellar. It's kinda annoying you have to change to one of the continental languages to play the European version of games, but that's just a minor gripe. There are a few graphical and sound inaccuracies here and there, but nothing to cry a river about, so I don't really care. They have done a solid job. I'll probably write about Darius (not as an individual review).

I've been playing it a bit and it's extremely faithful to the arcade as far as I can tell, but being able to see only a third of the screen makes it INCREDIBLY difficult. I can effortlessly 1cc the arcade game but I can't even get past the first stage here.
Other than that it's damn near pixel perfect conversion. It can also save the high-score to sram.
There's an extra boss rush mode, and the game includes more bosses - for the regular mode, you can set it under options to use the arcade bosses only.

The only thing I'm missing is a sound test. If you like the arcade game, this conversion is a huge treat in every way. But this is assuming you know the arcade version.

I'll send a short paragraph to Melf as well.
