After little research i managed to recreate cd-rom drive interface at my dev board. Mega-CD reads CD data streams of dev board successfully. Now i have better understanding what hardware i need for full implementation of mega-cd.

Pretty sure I saw a tweet of Krikzz right after the Mega SD came out where he mentioned looking into a solution of his own, so this is not really surprising to me.

He also mentions the ODE only as a possible product (so you can replace the CD drive in your Mega CD with a SD card, but still using the other hw).

If that happens then I'll definitely buy one. I've been hoping for that type of solution for a long time, in fact I'm surprised nobody did that already due to the unreliability of model1 CD units.

Exactly what I was thinking. I look forward to affording one of the two products someday.

I'd think there's too many hardware revisions for a CD ODE to make sense. Plus, who wants to deal with a second power brick and what not if you don't have to?

People who care about real hardware producing the graphics and sound would prefer this, but most "retro" enthusiasts prefer everything to be fake hardware.

I wish he'd make some spare parts for the Mega CD, I got a dead one here that I can't seem to fix due to an exploded capacitor.

Count me among the latter then because I thought it was about being able to play the games, I don't care what's happening at the circuit level. Today I'm using a newer TV, cables and controllers too... and still enjoying the same graphics and sounds as before.

I wish it was stackable with the original everdrives to effectively add to the tower of power

If the only problem is the capacitor, then Console5.com has your back. They sell replacement parts for old systems, including capacitor sets. They also have instructions and diagrams on their wiki.

I wish, I replaced all the capacitors and the board still wont work. I have 2 Mega CD units so I recapped both and managed to locate what board is the culprit. not really sure what to do.
I can't find any fault with it so the acid must have fucked up a chip or something.
