XP or Vista

Well duh, Vista was released out of BETA far too early, and XP is better. I still rather use 2000 though, I mean, 2000 and XP both use the same kernel, so even less resources, but same kernel = much better.

I'd rather die than use Win98 again. Three years to improve Win95 and it still sucked and crashed once a night.

XP never crashed on me.

But XP vs. Vista? Most computers I see for sale with Vista on it don't even meet the specs for it, and even those that do I've heard still run sluggish. I remember about a month or so ago Best Buy had a inexpensive Vista laptop with 512 RAM, good luck to anyone who runs that!.

I've also heard there are issues with Vista not working with or having drivers for things...which doesn't really help sell the OS

Windows 98 had DOS and therefore I could play Blood properly, which makes Windows 98 awesome. I will give Vista at least another year or two so they can iron out the worst of the bugs. Until then it's Windows XP all the way.

I still use Windows 2000, I don't play games on my PC, and don't care about flashy graphical GUI effects, so it does everything i need it to do.

Win98SE !!! XP can be nice, but that 2GB or RAM and 2.1GHz AMD X2 in my new PC still doesn't make it run faster and better than 98SE in my old one with 384MB of RAM and a Celeron 1000. Win98SE kicks ass, and you don't need antivirus for it, modern viruses don't run on it anymore !!!

Unless you have a specific reason to use Vista, stick with XP Pro. (Unless you want to game on your PC, which means you need Vista for DX10.)

Stick with XP or 2k. I wouldn't touch Vista for another two years at least.

XP. Even though it's six years old, it's been very stable for me (at least after the patches from RyanVM.) I'll wait a year or three before I upgrade to Vista.

My friend told that he'll move to Vista when SP2 is out... XP was shit until SP2... Vista is shit aswell without them. He estimated it happens in 2012...

I agree. I didn't upgrade to XP until '05. I always preferred '98 until I got a better system which could run XP proficiently. XP is actually quite good when its been tweaked. Although Vista looks nice, it's not worth the performance hit.
