LCD TV

Hey all,

since getting rid of my crt and living in the land of hi def ps3 gaming for a while my older consoles are getting sorely neglected. since i no longer have space for a crt i wondered if anyone can recommend a good flat panel standard def tv to hook the old boys (that's the MD2 & MCD2, saturn, ps2, gc and the soon to be mine retro duo) up to.
a couple of scart inputs would be needed.
i'm having trouble finding an sd lcd tv and i'm yearning for some thunder force 4 goodness that doesn't look like it's being torn apart!

LCD and Standard Def don't go together.

Just get an old SDTV CRT. I never got rid of my SDTV when I went HDTV. Just for this purpose.

Make space for a CRT, if you want to play old light gun games like Virtua Cop you'll need one.

like i say, space for a (at least) 22'' crt just isn't an option, i need something i can wall mount. surely sd lcd's aren't all that bad are they? like i say, it's just for games that will be running through scarts and possbly an s-video.

EDIT: just to note, i don't own any retro light gun games, if i really feel the need for one-i'll get time crisis 4 (runs for cover)

SDTV LCDs still upscale and look like shit, it won't be any better than what you have right now.

if a TV is 4:3 apect ratio, and has required inputs, it SHOULD display things correctly (if not "pixelated" due to better quality / higher res which shouldn't bother anyone)...

LCD is not good for fast games like Sonic... I once tried Sonic, awfully blurry once you get some running action up.

looks like i'm gonna have to squeeze in a crt, i'll have to come up with something- the non-playing of my old consoles is starting to grate-i even just secured a couple more saturn games too......

Once again, even a 16:9 TV has a 4:3 mode to display 4:3 content unstretched and in proper shape.

4:3 is 4:3, no matter what. just like 16:9 is 16:9 no matter what.
