CART WON'T PLAY: part deux

So the Gauntlet IV cart I picked up a week or so ago worked perfectly the first few times, but since then I've been getting a blank screen. I cleaned the contacts with a Q-tip and some methylated spirits and since then I can get to the licensing screen, but no further. Since I cleaned it it seems to slide into the Megadrive much easier. I thought it might be bent contacts inside the console but all the other games I've tried work/fit regularly. Ideas?

I have simliar issue with a Genesis model 2 that I got off ebay. It switches over to the game but nothing loads. Any Ideas??
