Default bought some Genesis 2 cables...

    I just bought these...

Off of EBAY for cheap. Most of the other ones inc real "SEGA" ones were only mono. Anyone seen these ones? I hope they are decent!

I have some cheap ones I got on eBay. While it works great, the L and R audio channels are backwards.

You might wanna test it with a known CD.

Those will work on a Genesis 2 or 32X. If you have a Genesis 1 and 32X, you won't get audio from those jacks.

wut? Are you fucking kidding me?? Oh god dammit!!!!!

I was planning on using them for 32x on a Genesis 1... but 32x on Genesis 2 will once again have to suffice.

The Sega Gods really don't want me using my model 1 do they!

LOL oh well still beats RF!

It's easy to get stereo audio out of a model 1 and for cheap. Just run a wire from the headphone jacks to your stereo. Yes, 32X sounds will be in stereo as well. Or you could run a mixing cable from the headphone jack to the back of the Sega CD and run RCA cables from there to your stereo. Either way you get full Genesis/CD/32X sound in stereo.

If you really really wanted to use those cables for audio, you could mod your Genesis to take the stereo audio out from the headphones preamp and run a couple of wires separately to the 32X stereo audio inputs. It'd look messy and be completely pointless, but it'd work.

What do you mean by backwords? DO you mean the L is R and the R is L? If so just switch them no big deal.

Exactly, you can switch it. But you want to make sure it IS backwards first.

lol yeah I have tons of 3.5mm to RCA (Red, White) Y cables kicking around. I could always use one from the headphone out.

I hooked up these stereo AV cables to both my Genesis model 1 (with 32x to model 1 adapter) and from my 32x on my model 1 and I got audio out of both!

Oh I thought you meant I wont get any audio at all as you said "you won't get audio from those jacks" well I guess I am from one of them lol! Really I don't mind when most of the time when I'm just hooked up to the TV and not the actual stereo.

for my Model 1 it still beats mono on RF

The problem with mono on the model 1 is that only the right channel is used, so any sounds/musical instruments that come from the left will not be heard. There is no mono mixdown. This makes ThunderForce games and Castle of Illusion along with other games sound very odd (I could post examples if you wish). A couple of Konami games offered a "mono" mode in their options screens to remedy this.

I'm not sure if Genesis 2/3 does a proper mono mixdown.

Taken from the Japanese Mega CD manual. It was in the "Don't do this" section.
